I agree on Jason Dickinson, the guy is probably a 2nd rounder right now but could easily climb into first round discussion by this time next season. Really showed some good play during the second half of the season and also so far in a few playoff games (2G + 1A in 2 playoff games)

Really needs to add some weight though. being 6'1" but only 165 really looks thin out there, he should be able to add easily on his frame though.

Also watch out for his teammate Hunter Garlent, has to overcome size issues (currently listed as 5'8" 160, although he has probably grown an inch or two considering I am 5'8" and standing beside him he was slightly taller then me). He plays bigger then he is and doesn't mind throwing what weight he does have around, works hard along the boards and goes to the dirty areas to score. Finished as the second highest scoring 16 year old in the OHL this season (behind only Domi)

I think Shinkaruk will be who every team will want. MacKinnon is a great player but Shinkaruk scored 49 goals this season as a 17 year old. Not too many 17 year olds can do that.

Well, season is done fir some, and I can't wait to see who will step up and continue to show they are the next ones to make NHL history. A few have something to prove next year but a lot did a lot to make their case.

Sure interested in a lot of forwards now. Shinkaruk, Lazar, Monahan, Forsberg, so many more.

MacKinnon could very well do that next year... He scored 31 this year, and was injured for 5-6 games...

Not many guys left in the playoffs, Mackinnon is doing well, Lazar notably, Pulock was strong as was Roy, Rankin is so-so, Duclair is good, seems Domi is not playing much. Others?

Drouin and Fucale are putting on quite the display tonight in Quebec.

Too bad the Ducks are gonna bounce back next year 2013 looks really special, and that's beyond the typical "this year sucks, next year will be incredible" argument.

That claim has nothing to do with Nova Scotian pride?

He has 11 goals so far this post season in 9 2/3 games played. 50 goals next season is very realistic.

It shouldn't. The sky's the limit for MacKinnon next year. Including playoffs, as johnman alluded to, MacKinnon has 42 goals, 53 assists in 68 games (with a period to go). He's the total package.

EDIT: Pressed send a bit late.

It's cool. I'll probably warm up to him if the Ducks fail again. Worked with Yakupov

EDIT: I only aimed that question at Halifax Ducks because for the most part I only see him/her when someone is talking about Mackinnon or Crosby.

No worries.

For all those stat junkies out there, MacKinnon now has 44 goals and 101 points in 71 games (regular season + playoffs). He sits tied for 2nd in QMJHL playoff scoring, with 23 points.

EDIT: Teammate Jonathan Drouin has 15 goals and 48 points in 46 games (regular season + playoffs). He sits in 6th in QMJHL playoff scoring, with 19 points.

Still no William Carrier love in your list? He's the front runner to Captain Cape Breton. They rarely give the C to anyone who isn't 19 or 20... The last 17 year old to Captain Cape Breton was James Sheppard.

A few guys sure did a good job in the playoffs, but not a lot really picked up their game, some didn't get much of a chance of course. Lazar sure has, though. Pulock and Roy for Brandon but it was short for them. Other guys like Shinkaruk did as well, some like Domi have lost a lot of ice time. Too bad I haven't seen any yet, I'm stoked for next season and seeing who becomes the cream of the crop.

Obviously Jones, MacKinnon, Barkov and maybe Shinkaruk/Duclair will get early pumping. Guys like Lazar, Domi, Pulock, Forsberg, Rychel, and so many more will make it interesting (one hopes!).

As it stands now, pure guesswork, who is your top ten heading into the 2012-13 season, best bets to go top 10 in the 2013 draft as you see it?

Have you seen MacKinnon play? Or did you look at the username and think it was just a homer post?

If you actually look at his game, and his stats, saying he'll get 50 goals isn't a stretch.

And when do I talk about Crosby?

P.S. I didn't see this so I dug it up now.

Thanks for all the updates. I'm looking forward to a lot of guys in 2013, Lazar, Carrier, Klimchuk, Forsberg, Pulock, Roy, Kujawinski, Mackinnon, Sorensen, Baptiste, Gregoire, guys from other countries and leagues... See who keeps improving and rises to the top to join guys like Jones and Barkov, or fall to become the next 'whatever happened to...' though no one likes to hear that.
