Agreed. If Stuart's only sitting as more of a maintenance thing rather than an injury, then he should play until Hainsey and/or Enstrom can return, and then rest for a game or two.

Noel needs to put up one of those invisible fences and collars for buff so if he goes deeper than the offensive blue line he gets shocked

Oduya and Jones have been OK together thus far and Festerling and Flood are team mates from St. John's. To my knowledge they weren't paired together, but it isn't like they'd have more chemistry paired with Bogosian and Oduya, respectively. Bogosian and Byfuglien are both right-handed shots, but whatever. Bogo's playing well at the moment, and hopefully he'll put up some solid performances while logging big big time minutes. Buff is Buff, and there isn't much else to say about that. Maybe Bogosian will be able to manage him as well as Enstrom does. Maybe not.
I like the idea of keeping Oduya and Jones together. Amazingly, that pairing hasn't been a liability in the last few games, in fact they've been pretty effective as a 3rd pairing. And Byfuglien-Bogosian wouldn't be terrible either, might as well have Buff on his off-hand.

Flood and Festerling together, that's just asking for trouble. If that pairing goes up vs. the Isles top 6, we're screwed. I don't think it's an issue of chemistry. You have to spread your competent (I'm using this term VERY loosely) Dmen through the lineup in this scenario.

I would like to see:

Jones - Bogosian
Festerling - Byfuglien
Oduya - Flood

My rationale is that Festerling is a solid defensive presence who isn't going to make too many mistakes, and will cover up for Buff. Bogosian is a mobile guy covering up for an immobile guy, and I think would thrive with top pairing minutes. We don't want Jones getting top pairing minutes, so you could mix Bogosian-Oduya every now and then. The Oduya-Flood pairing would probably be shaky, but you're going to have one of those pairings no matter how you divvy it up. Keep them sheltered, playing 8-10 minutes a game.

Did Noel learn nothing from the first time he tried putting Buff and Jones together. I expect that pairing to have at least 3 GA, although I have a feeling Buff might score tonight...

And Hank when I first read your post I read that one sentence as Jones would thrive with first pairing minutes and I nearly spit out my drink . The next sentence made it clear, but damn I was about to laugh uncontrollably.

Especially with the Isles getting last change, that pairing would be really dangerous. It's definitely going to have to be defence by committee, and that means the forwards are going to have to really commit to helping out.

I think Stapleton will be on the first PP pairing with Buff?

All we can hope for is a injury free game tonight... we need some of the other guys to heal and can't afford another injury.

Lets go Jets!

I think we'll need to score a lot of goals to win tonight, but I believe we can do just that.

Jets win, 6-4

Do I sense a goal tending dual tonight?

The one edge I will give the Jets is (contrary to a few people) I believe the Jets are offensively capable.

DP in net vs. Pavelec? Pav is coming off a great couple of outings.

I still say a lot of other teams' goalies have had lights out performances against the Jets.

I'm sure this game will have me yelling at the tv. I'm glad the wife is out tonight.

Boo, I can't watch the game live tonite. I'll have to be out around town trying to avoid hearing about the game until I get home to watch it on the PVR. Probably see you all in the PGT though.

I'm changing my prediction:

- Buff plays responsible D tonight.

- Ladd has a break out: 23 goals.

- Burmistrov shines again: 27 goals.

- Tavares takes advantage of our D ailments: 52 goals.

- Jets win 64-63 in OT shoot out.

- Pavelec gets first star: 2,484 saves.

Skill testing question: Which of the above is LEAST likely to happen? </insert sarcasm>

I still don't see why Postma doesn't get a call up. Oh wait, he's "too offensive". As if Festerling is any good defensively lol...

Islanders have only 18 goals on the season, 7 from Tavares. They have no offense at all so hopefully we don't allow them to score 5 on us.

Why so negative?
Postma has been benched in the ahl for being poor defensively
So i dont see the issue with him not being called up

To Jones' defense, he did have a strong game against FLA . This is probably the reason for his pairing with Buff, but just looking at the roster, that first pairing looks scary. When you don't have last change, you have to spread out the talent.

Interested to see what the callups have to offer, Fester was good in pre-season, I remember him being very physical.

Don't worry guys, our D will be fine as soon as Hainsey and Stewie get back

I think the whole team will step it up to compensate for the loss of Enstrum and Stuart.

The Safeway Score and Win commercial always makes me lol!

"When a Winnipeg Jets player scores 5 goals you could win a million dollars!"

I'll get excited when they dress Alexei Zhamnov
