He's been OK. Andy Greene is our star d-man though.
I do agree with you but just reading it made my eyes hurt. When Andy Greene is your top d-men, you are in a world of hurt IMO.

I'm honestly starting to think that Elias isn't too fond of playing with Kovy. It's a pain in the ass playing with someone that hogs the puck all the time and turns the puck over more often then not.
When playing with a puck hog, you are basically wasting all your energy... doing nothing. I played with a guy that had the sickest pair of hands I've ever seen but he held the puck way too often and caused too many turnovers. For a playmaker, like myself, I got angry with my winger cause he tried to deke the same player two or three times while we (my left winger and myself) were trying to get open but the puck never left his stick more often then not. Our line was winded as hell cause of that and we weren't generating anything offensively cause we couldn't set up properly in their zone.
I'm not saying that Elias feels the same way... but I wouldn't be surprised.
When Kovy realizes that he is most effective when he's not controlling the puck but rather waiting for his moment to rip a one timer, we will have a 40 goal scorer.
I think his contract has turned him into the type of guy that thinks he can end all our problems on his own. He's doing too much, when in reality, he should be doing as little as possible. He's always been like that, don't get me wrong, but he might be doing it even more since he wants to prove to his teamates, coach, gm and the rest of the world for that matter that he can turn things around.
Like you said, he should find the proper seam, wait for a pass and crack lazers instead of going "one against the world"... wich leads to absolutely nothing more often then not.
Not if he plays the way he has been. He has been unbelievably good.
I actually agreed with you that he's been playing real well (outside of yesterdays game IMO) but when you read that Andy Greene is our best d-men, it's not a pretty thing to see on paper cause he'd be a #3 or #4 anywhere else IMO.
According to the Devils website, Hedberg. After tonight, I feel that my bandwagon is going to gain some riders.
i'm ok with that. according to the main board marty is washed up so i'd be worried about playing him against such a good team. regardless of what happens against philly tonight if we can't get a win against winnipeg on saturday at home then we're in deep ****.
I'm not even opposed to him bringing the puck up ice. IMO, our best chances come on the possessions where he stops short after the blue line and passes the puck to a defender.
I just don't like him dangling every player in site. Just protect the puck and go around them rather than through them.
The guy is one of our best and fastest skaters plus he has size. He just needs to dump the ****ing puck in the corner, go full blast and protect it with his size advantage.
90% of his turnovers will be avoided and we'll actually have control of the puck in the opposing zone instead of the junk we see now. It's really mindboggling that no one has asked him to do that since he's arrived in NJ.
I may have to take the weekend off from HF if we lose tonight. This place will either drip with suicidal blood, or explode in glowing rainbows depending on the outcome. I may not be able to handle either one.
"Devils just trap trap trap trap. Sure it's a modified trap different than LeMaire's but even with two forecheckers they have the defense sitting back with the third guy clogging up the middle of the ice." - explanation of how the Devils still employ the trap
