Or this year's Connolly.

A Galchenyuk - Jensen first line in a few years? Count me in.

I think that if we pick outside the top 2, then we have to target Galchenyuk.

Speculating what would be available IF we acquired Toronto's 1st round pick - 5th overall

I think there are other threads to speculate on that.

I see no way Galchenyuk is available at 5th anyhow.

Forsberg will be the best forward available at 5th IMO. Yakupov, Grigs, and Gally will be taken by 4th.

Almost every mock draft has TO getting Galchenyuk at 5th.
Most probable order of picks wil be:
Yakupov, Forsberg, Grigorenko, Murray, Galchenyuk.
Imho.

As happy as I'd be with Forsberg at 5, if one of those guys are available at 5 and we take him instead, I'm not as happy as I'd be.

All you have to have is one team liking Forsberg to upset that order. Galchenyuk missing the year has to affect his value. I don't think the scouts think it's as clear cut as HF fans believe.

You just need 1 GM to like Forsberg's game more.

Prospects rarely improve or reduce their stock in the eyes of the public at the combine. What can make players rise or fall at the combine is the interviews, and we don't get to hear any of those. The physical testing will rarely have any big effect on draft position.

Actually, what partially matters is figuring out whether the prospect is fully mature or not. For example, Tom Wilson is apparently fully mature and built as an adult — in the eyes of some teams that might lower his stock (because he might not have much ceiling and he's dominating with his size?) and in the eyes of others it might boost it (can compete in the NHL sooner?).

I talked to a scout this year and we discussed last year's draft, he told me that after he saw Grimaldi at the combine his stock really fell for him personally because there was nothing to grow into. He was fully mature yet tiny, there was no room to put on weight — to him that was a concern.

Rocco Grimaldi is also utterly and totally insane. I don't know if anyone here has ever read his twitter. I just had to mention it because I'm completely fascinated by it.

I really hope his grown up body doesn't prevent him from making it in the NHL cause I'm really excited to watch the reaction he is going to provoke across the league.

I'd love to see Grimaldi become at least a decent bottom 6 player then get picked up by the Kings. Imagine that guy sharing a room with Richards + Carter.

Or even by the Canucks. I could see Bieksa + Schneider picking on him a lot, haha.

****, what if he played for the Devils? The things he has to say to Brodeur...

I think there's a multitude of things scouts can take out of combine, but ultimately, play on the ice will still be the biggest factor for most. But I agree the physical portion is still an important aspect for combine. So many people focus on players who dominate this fitness testing. But it can really go two ways, you see a guy dominate, you ask is he at his fullest potential right now and as you asked, can he play in the Nhl sooner? If they don't do as well, you wonder how much better can he be if he had muscle and more strength? Choosing one helps determine your take on the players potential, so it does play a factor.

When I heard the tidbits about Tom Wilson, it did not raise him at all in my books. Just brings up more questions I have of him.

Grimaldis twitter is like a car accident, can't not watch it, but after a while, you just feel bad for them.

Mocks made by Toronto based people.

Galchenyuk is #2 on a lot of lists.

The hockey writers, draftsite.com, mynhldraft.com, and Craig Button have him at 5th, and Bob Mckenzie has him at 6th...

Well at least he did end up marrying her - probably makes "family get togethers" kind of awkward to say the least. Or a rejected script for an episode of "Two and a Half Men" (with Sheen).

Agreed. If there's a "this year's Couturier", wouldn't it be Grigorenko?

Wonder if Jake McCabe might get a look in the second round. Like Di Giuseppe, he played in the collegiate ranks this system and acquitted himself decently.

There's a link to the Draft Combine results, after taking a look through this, my first three picks are cemented (under ideal conditions):

1. 26th Overall - Ludvig Bystrom
2. 56th Overall - Henrik Samuelsson
3. (Trade to Anaheim or someone for an early 4th) 97th Overall - Jujhar Khaira

Would totally dig getting Bystrom. Haven't seen him play but from I've been reading about him, he seems to excel at making the right play (high hockey IQ) a la Tanev. But I have a feeling someone's gonna take him before 26 (like Philly or Tampa).

What do you guys think about Hampus Lindholm? I really like what I've read about him too.

EDIT: Just checked Lindholm's rankings on the various scouting outlets... yea, he's gone before 26...

Doubt Bystrom and Samuelsson will be available but regardless, I'd rather see Canadians with those picks. Dalton Thrower, if he's around, and picking Lukas Sutter a few spots early works for me.
