I didn't think that it was horrible either but he looked... guilty. That is the word that I was looking for.

Kaleta will probably get a few games just because of his reputation. It was definitely a violent looking move, but it also looked like he was just fighting for the puck...

Needless to say, he's being crucified on the main board.

Happens every year, usually with cookie cutter call and response from the same half-dozen posters. Hell, last year, it seemed like once a month.

Yea, true. Before last night's head butt though (which was stupid, but not dangerous), I can't remember his last questionable hit. I don't think there was one last year.

Giroux's slash on Roy was more dangerous than the head butt.

Hopefully he won't get suspended, but after seeing what happened, I'm pretty sure he's going to get the ax.

Pat's a big part of the PK. He averages 2:36 TOI/game there.

No, he has to clear to be "assigned" to Rochester since he has been hurt. This is just them getting him down to the Amerks so he can play.

Chain's already explained it, but re-entry waivers don't apply to Szczechura.
If a player is making more than $105,000 in the AHL, he must clear re-entry waivers to be recalled by an NHL team unless it is an emergency recall or they are exempt (there are exemptions for veteran players that have been out of the NHL for long periods of time).
He's making $85,000 this year, so he can just be recalled if he's needed.

On topic, I will never understand why Kaleta feels it is necessary to headbutt people.
It is stupid to begin with, but his history of head and neck issues make it an even stupider thing to do.

Disagree, the Giroux slash was dangerous and a little childish in the, you're going to "cheap shot" us so I'm going to slash your guy in the back of the leg once he turns his back. But the Kaleta head butt was certainly more dangerous.

Shanny has already personally delivered to Clode an engraved lucite block, a lovely basket of fruit and a gift card to Geno's.

If you thing that's excessive, don't. You should see what van Riemsdyk got for his spear on Weber.

Not really. It looked a lot worse than it was. The slash had more of a chance to cause an injury in my opinion.

It's not just the main board piling on Kaleta:

I notice not a single one of those actually tries to analyze the play and whether or not it's dirty.

Simply "hey, he's done some stuff in the past, therefore he should get suspended!"

I think the stare before he puts his head down and dives forward could be what gets him in trouble.

That just looks like he thought about it for a second and just said screw it and blew in head first.

It's really hard to tell from the angle, but it looks like he tries to put up his hands/arms to push Voracek off the puck.

It's a really weird play. He should definitely at least get a fine for being "reckless", but it's going to be extremely difficult to prove intent to headbutt.

One problem, he's not a repeat offender.

How? What's the worse that's going to happen? A bruise? He didn't hit him hard enough to break anything.

Kaleta very easily couldn't broken a nose or something along those lines.

Just saying, from my perspective the Kaleta move was much more dangerous than the slash (and I am not a fan of the slash by any means).

that used to be true, he got suspended for a hit against the caps either last year or 2 years ago.

edit: after reading the puck daddy article it was against the Flyers.

Wheee. Bit more than I thought, was expecting 2-3, but meh. Guess Kaleta didn't charm the Shanahammer with his personality.
