Didn't like the collision and didn't like the no-suspension. Shanahan listened to Lucic and liked his answers regarding intent? Really? Next time an actual goon will be taking his chances, and he can just point towards this no-suspension on Lucic. It's a really bad precedent to set.

Hey Shanny, if you believe Lucic, I got some high-end waterfront real estate to sell you. It's free, too - just forward me $1 million so I can get close the escrow on my Nigerian bank account...

It's just been announced here in Philly that Mark Howe will have his #2 retired by the Flyers here. Since he played for the Red Wings for a few years, and his rather anonymous father played for the Red Wings, thought people here would be interested:

It will be done on March 6 when the Red Wings are in town.

hawks and caps get blown out big time tonight

really weird this season. we usually see a dominant team emerge by now but that hasn't happened yet

Boo hoo.
Goalie comes WAY out of the net and gets hit.
C'est la vie.

Dude is wearing more equipment than anyone on the ice. Who cares?

I wish they'd cut down on goalies coming out and playing the puck with impunity too, but according to the rules Lucic crossed the line big-time. If you don't like the line, take it out of the rule book. In the meantime, it's a serious penalty and deserved a fine, and probably a suspension.

I'm not sure how Lucic convinced Shanny he didn't do it on purpose. That seemed to be the deciding factor for Shanny, the intent - yet it's pretty clear he looked up late and decided "eh, I'll go ahead and run him, whatever." Shanny got suckered.

Just watched the first period of the Pens-Islanders game. Yeah, they'd **** our **** up if we played them tomorrow.

Crosby is still in domination mode and the forwards in general are creating offense like no one's business. Their defense is suspect, but they would score enough goals to nullify that.

Gotta love those first overall picks

First of all, I think Pittsburgh is the best team in the league, will win the cup and Crosby/Malkin are heads and shoulders above all else. But they played the Islanders, arguably the worst team in the NHL with their 5th string goalie in. Let's put it into a little bit of perspective.

It only took about 10 terrible years and the threat of leaving the city for them to rebound. You think this forum can handle that?

NYI were total **** in that game.

crosby's career vs DRW: .737p per game (60p pace)

crosby's career vs NYI: 1.94p per game (159p pace)

amazing is that crosby only has 1a in 4 games vs SJ, and is -4 with only 6 shots.

penguins' D is usually the best part of their team, imo (but not if 87 is healthy). has not been as good recently, but their defensive structure and pressure have usually been among the best in the NHL since start of last season.

i am surprised that penguins have been outscored at ES, though.

crosby was as great as before. i am trying to think of any player i have seen who had a better backhand.

their next game vs STL should be very interesting. STL looks a lot better under hitchcock.

Yeah, I know they played the Islanders and they were utter ****, I don't know how they are going to keep the likes of Tavares though. This franchise is just full of fail. It's karma for stealing Nabby

But no one can disagree that Pittsburgh (now with Crosby back) can dominate any team in the league right now. I've watched a few games of other contending teams and the Pens are the best I've watched. They have youth throughout the team, but at the same time they have experience and the right players leading the team. Again, the defense is a bit shaky (I think Letang is overrated), but the opposition is going to have to keep that top 6 at bay while dealing with a very good third line as well.

ya but their equipment is made to stop pucks notice how almost everytime a goalie gets hit hard enough their helmet falls off, its cus goalie equipment isnt made to take hits

and all this Crosby talk has no one noticing Florida Panthers 2nd in the east!! the line of Fleischmann, Versteeg and Weiss have been amazing

Crosby with 4 points in his 1st game back, impressive.
Though I agree it was vs the NYI.

The Wild is on the top of WC. It is a big surprise?
The trade between the Sharks and the Wild seems good for both teams now.

Goaltenders have close to zero protection when it comes to hits compared to the skaters, so you're obviously out to lunch.

I care because next time it's Howard who's out with a concussion on a similar play, not as funny eh? Luckily the GM's have already talked this over so it shouldn't be an issue going forward.

i watched about 1/2 of STL pittsburgh game. as vs DRW, STL's work ethic, physicality and D were impressive. it was their 2nd game in 2 days, but they played as well or better in parts i watched.

STL won 3-2 in OT.

i have seen a couple of florida games. their team D seems much improved, but i saw almost none of them last season, so i cannot really compare it. also seem to have improved during this season, though that opinion is based on very little viewing. dineen probably deserves much of the credit.

weiss is a very underrated player. probably better than franzen.

a goalie has now business outside his crease. goaltending, the name says what his job is. if he wants to go out and play, that's fine. but then it's on his own risk.
i seriously start to hate this modern hockey crap where goalies can do everything anywhere and get protected. what's next? a goalie in the offensive zone because no one is allowed to touch him?

if miller wouldn't have turned around and went for the contact himself nothing would have happened. i bet tim thomas would have rocked the forward in a similar situation.

Crosby silenced vs the Blues.
The Ruins Buffalo game was exciting. The Ruins announcers are the worst in the league. I hate the Ruins for several reasons, their owner, announcers, players, their style.
The Wild still on top.
The Hawks lost, so we are just 2 points behind them and game in hand.

Yeah I like Miller plenty but he's just can't be that clueless. If you are outside of the crease you need to keep your head up, just like any other skater. It's a hit Lucic really didn't need to make but he wasn't suspended because it was a clean hit. Didn't target the head or anything like that. I remember Dom being in a similar situation and he submarined the skater barreling in on him, Dom was awesome crazy like that.

Tomas Fleischmann has 23 points in 22 games and is +16 (tied for 2nd in the league). Just update on him. Wings prospect.
