Tomas Fleischmann has 23 points in 22 games and is +16 (tied for 2nd in the league). Just update on him. Wings prospect.
I've always liked him. He's been a PPG player over the past 50 games, so he's legit now, not just a streak. He's such a skilled player, Kenny said he wanted him over the summer, but when free agency began, the prices were too high. It would've been nice to have him back having drafted him way back. Was always disappointed he was included in the deal.

Nikolai Khabibulin(notes), Edmonton Oilers. A competitive field, but the nod goes to the Bulin Wall for one specific reason: The team playing in front of him. Tim Thomas(notes) has incredible numbers with the Boston Bruins (1.85 GAA, .936 save percentage through 15 games). Jimmy Howard(notes) has been stellar for the Detroit Red Wings (1.91, .929 through 18 games). Niklas Backstrom(notes) has reclaimed his game with the Minnesota Wild (1.97, .935 in 14 games). But the Bruins and Wings are veteran teams that know their defense, and the Wild are trapping. Khabibulin (9.4-2, 1.87, .936) has done more with less protection. He's trailed off a bit in November, but was incredible in October.
and all this Crosby talk has no one noticing Florida Panthers 2nd in the east!! the line of Fleischmann, Versteeg and Weiss have been amazing
Interesting. Florida does seem to be doing pretty well so far. It's interesting how much their scoring drops after their top 3 forwards, however. After Fleischmann, Versteeg, and Weiss, their 3 highest scoring forwards are Tomas Kopecky (10 points in 22 games), Shawn Matthias (6 points in 22 games), and Jack Skille (5 points in 22 games). Here's hoping we get to play the Panthers in the Stanley Cup Finals and match up our 2nd line (Filppula - Zetterberg - Cleary or Bertuzzi - Datsyuk - Franzen) against theirs.
The Blues are doing great under Hitchcock. Now they have stopped the Caps and won again.
The Hawks lost, so there's our chance to take the lead of the division and the conference.
'The Wild won again, so they lead the conference. Is this their best year since they joined the league?
How about the trade they made with the Sharks? Seems like it works pretty well for them.
They and the Leafs are the biggest surprises of the season so far.
The Ducks got the new coach. Surprise?
I gotta say, I like the hiring by Anaheim. Carlyle seems so stale, I know they won the cup but I have to think that Boudreau will be allowed to do his thing again.
I hate Carlyle, and I'm glad I don't have to watch him make that face every time one of his players takes off his skate and tries to stab somebody with it. Then again, I'm sure I'll get to dislike Boudreau and his face in no time...

Well they practically have the same face, so it shouldn't take you too long
So Crosby didn't get a point in a game. I'm shocked. I even triple checked the box score to make sure. It's ridiculous how seemingly easily he racks up points.
Hey, Shanny, hope you're watching the Preds-Sabres game tonight and understanding the message you sent when you let Lucic walk.
There were some harsh suspentions and then a big surprise letting Lucic unpunished.
The Wild are still on the top of the league.
Nobody says anything about the trade between the Mild and Sharks! Looks very good for the Wild so far this season.
The Rangers and the Bruins are still going strong.
But I think the Wild, Rangers, Bruins and Leafs will cool off soon.

I understand people's panties getting in a bunch over the lack of a suspension for Lucic. I thought it was on Miller to keep his head up given he was way out of the crease near the faceoff circle. In this case I really do think there's a good chance Tootoo gets suspended. Erhoff did not push him into Miller, Erhoff was heading south, there's simply no way he could have pushed Tootoo towards Miller given Tootoo's speed. Tootoo just decided to plow into the goaltender when there was obviously no angle for him to cut to the front of the net. He decided not to hit the breaks or skate behind the net. He made a choice and it was to plow into Miller while he was in his crease.
Miller's concussion-like symptoms - has it really been determined he actually had a concussion? - shouldn't really be a factor. He was in the crease and goaltenders cannot be run into when they are in the crease. Tootoo's repeat offender status of being an epic d-bag also should be a factor. The refs during the game absolutely made the right call and I think there's a good chance Tootoo gets suspended. The only factor in his favor is that he didn't appear to target Miller's head - his aim is obviously terrible so who knows what his true intentions were - and Miller was not injured on the play.
New four conference format gets approval by NHL B of G.
So basically the Central plus Dallas, Minny and Winnipeg. Meh?
edit: However, won't have to face the Sharks in the first two rounds of the playoffs ever again! lol
As of right now, the four teams that would realistically make the playoffs
Detroit, Chicago, Nashville and one of St. Louis or Dallas? We'd probably have to play St. Louis/Dallas in Round 1 and then Chicago/Nashville in Round 2.
I feel sorry for the guys in the pacific division and atlantic division. Those divisions are stacked! Some really good teams would actually have to miss out on the playoffs.
