Clemmensen sent to San Antonio for rehab

http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/f...,3410008.story

One game stint saturday night. Then either back up or traded.

Hope to see Clemmensen moved. Just feel a lot more comfortable with Theo-Markstrom than I do Theo-Clemmer.

I think Clem at the very minimum deserves the chance to show whether he should stay or go. I really like how Theo and Markstrom have played but lets not throw Clem under the bus just yet.

Let him have a game or two and then see who's better to keep between Clem and Theo.

We saw Clemmer all year last year. I dont think hes better since the injury. Hes a serviceable backup, aweful in shootouts, and a nice guy.

Markstrom has been outstanding, has proved hes NHL ready.

Trading him to where hes needed is in his best interest and not throwing him under the bus.

Columbus really needs more goaltending. He could even be a starter over mason. The question is his return a 3 or 4th rounder?

Moving him isn't throwing him under the bus, there's nothing to blame him or, but we've seen him for the past couple years and we know what he is.

We'd be lucky to get a draft pick for him. No way is he worth a 3rd or a 4th. It would probably be a late draft pick.

He's a backup/stopgap goalie and the market value for goalies these days is garbage, as is.

Not to mention that Clem is coming off an injury, as well.

I think we could see a package deal, wouldn't be surprised to see Ellerby on his way out as well.

I don't want Turris either.
I'd rather pay players who've actually proven something in the NHL.

Hence the sarcasm smiley... lol The circus going on with that kid is just ridiculous. I hope Maloney sticks to his guns and makes the kid sit until he and his agent come to their senses.

He and his agent, like you're saying, have only asked for a trade...

They haven't asked for 4M+ like those stupid internet reports claimed.

Back on topic, Clemmer should be gone IMO. Markstrom doesn't need to be a number 1 in the A, he has to compete for a job against Theo up with the big boys !

We won't get squat for him. Obviously teams know we are in a jam, with 3 capable goalies. There is no market for him whatsoever.

If he does well, I still wouldn't doubt it see Markstrom back down. One more year going full out as a starter would benefit him. Splitting games with Theo might not be the best. He is young, you want him in all the time. What happens if Theo gets hot? We would have Markstrom riding the pine which is a waste.

There's always a market, I'd imagine a 5th rounder if it's just him. Course, if he winds up going to Columbus, they sent a minor fortune for Carter.

How's splitting time in the NHL a bad thing? It's not like he's gonna warm the bench for a dozen games. I'd be comfortable with 45ish for Theo, 37ish for Markstrom. He's done very well.

Absolutely. I remember Richter coming up and splitting the games with Beezer and the Rags winning the Presidents cup....

^^^ Agreed. Even when we traded for a certain rookie goaltender in 2000-01, we had Trevor Kidd as an incumbent to split time with him.

Sometime goalie tandems do work, I'm not saying they don't. It's just usually they are not well liked by the goalies themselves.
In '94 both Beezer and Ricther said they should of been #1, pretty rare that someone doesn't get upset.

Oh and I would rather us keep Ellerby. Nothing wrong with having depth in your D core sitting in the press box. Espically with an old timer like Jovo on the blueline, you never know when injuries creep up.

Don't like Ellerby, personal preference is all.
