Island Park Arena Guy UPDATE: Gary Levine confirmed

Per Isles Telecast
Guy wants to have 20,000 seat arena in Island Park
What the hell?
Hopefully more info comes up about this ridiculous statement.
Fischler better be right....
Otherwise, Old Stan is fooled again!

This company sounds like these shady "marketing" companies that you find on Monster.com that promise that you will make millions but its a ponzi scheme

C'mon guys this is absurd goto google maps type in Island Park NY and switch it to satelite view.. There's not even room for an additional shed let alone a 20,000 seat arena!! There's no highways in the town and there's basically only one road thru the town it's utterly ridiculous the Light House project has a better chance of happening on Kat Murrays block than this insane idea... Stan's just going senile and got trolled.

If Stan said it, that means it's not happening.

Looks like the game was so boring that Stan dozed off and had a bizarre dream during the period. Gary Levine is a guy Stan met during World War 1.

I've heard that Bettman is actually an Islanders fan, at least he was before the was the commish. He hasn't been public about any favourite team, obviously, since he's had this job, but the rumour is he grew up (in age, not height) an Isles fan.

Exactly what I was thinking. I used to date a girl who lived around there, the town is about the size of a postage stamp surrounded by water. Unless they're planning to build it on water wings in the bay, I cannot see this happening, never mind the people who live in a waterfront community approving something that big being built in the backyard.

And for the record, I love your avatar man...

I really don't see how him being there adds to this... He's the commissioner of the league he goes to lots of games at arenas all over the country. This whole thing is ludicrous Fischler said he asked the guy who was funding it th guy responded that he was with some public funds... Yeeeeeahhhhh okkkk!

First Stan says "this thing is a live " and he knows one of the principals involved. Then some stranger comes up to him and says he is building s 20000 seat arena in Island Park. Stan please retire and do some research on the NYC subway system.

What's more interesting is that Levine took off according to Fischer. Again, I see this as nothing more than MSG trying to paint a picture that the Isles are never coming into NYC.

Does Island Park even have room for an arena? I thought it was a heavily populated area with no real land to do anything with?

Stan being senile probably got the story wrong. Levine lives in Island park and wants to build a rink in Long Island.

I know this sounds crazy . . .

. . . but hear me out.

Last night my Father and I had tickets in Section 104. It has been some time since I got my dad to a game and he wanted a picture of himself down by the ice. Towards the end of the third (after the third goal) we walked down the few rows to be right on the boards. In the second row a well dressed gentlemen, a little too well dressed. He was sitting alone and the section had mostly cleared. I guess my dad saw the frustration on his face and began to bs about the game, "They almost had it, but the fire went out...etc". After the brief conversation we went back to taking the photos and before I knew it the gentlemen was right behind me. He said, "I'll take one go stand by your Dad. This is what it is all about anyway." At the time I thought to myself 'Wow, nice guy'. But my Dad kept going on about how he seemed out of place. By himself, dressed to the nines, staying after the games was over (because of the goal not the clock), when he left he walked toward the locker room not up the stairs.

I am not saying it was this Levine guy, and I am not saying that this Island Park Scheme is any more believable the Big Foot, but the whole thing just seemed really coincidental.

Please don't crucify me for it, probably just nothing but interesting none the less.
