I like Enroth starting, but I hope it has more to do with that being the schedule in the first place than anything else.
Of course it does. Ruff said he's sticking to the schedule the goaltenders were given earlier this week. More importantly, this follows Ruff's MO when playing backup goaltenders: Play the backup vs the non-conference opponent, play Miller vs divisional opponents.

Enroth in goal. Tropp is here. Gragnani likely in for Weber
Really, Weber possibly yanked already?
WTF? I don't get that, especially against a bigger team like Calgary.
Weber had a rough first period but what do you expect when the guy hasn't played a regular season game over 6 months? I thought he actually recovered pretty well and played a real solid game from then on.
EDIT: That should read a non-preseason game in 6 months.
Glad it's a 7:30 start, since that means I won't miss as much of the game as a 7:00. I have to volunteer at a women's ice hockey tournament for about 6 hours, so that should be interesting...
Time for us to get off the schneid and use the power of the cukes to beat the Flames.
Weber out for MAG? Eh. That looks like he put Weber in the position to fail the other night by putting him out against the Giroux line. And yes, Weber was bad to start the game and yes, he improved as he went along and yes, this is a screwup on Lindy's part in my opinion.

Wow....
Not only did Weber only get one game compared to ten for Gragnani, but he also got thrown to the wolves in his first game as well. FWIW, I thought the rust was there with Weber early in the game, but he played much better after the first period against Philly.

Agreed. For whatever reason, it doesn't appear that Weber is being given a decent chance at cracking the starting lineup. Maybe Ruff thinks what Grag brings is more important at this point than what Weber brings.

Agreed with you and the poster you quoted.
Didn't Lindy say a couple days ago he had to get Weber in the lineup before he "loses him"?
Well, I'm sure that playing 1 game and being yanked back out doesn't do anything good in that regard. The Sabres defense played pretty sound the last 50 minutes of that game. I am a little disappointed in Lindy's handling of Mike Weber.
There's GOT to be some agenda going on with Gragnani. Maybe a showcase for tradebait? I honestly and truly believe that Ruff is off his rocker if he thinks this is the right thing to do.

I agree. Anyone who read what I was actually writing in the Weber-Gragnani debates knows that my primary concern is about Ruff yanking around the young defensemen again, which I believe is incredibly counterproductive. If you're going to make the change from Gragnani to Weber you have to stick with it for awhile. This is the new Sekera-Butler-Weber situation.
The only plausible explanation I can come up with is that Calgary is a bottom-third PK unit, and he thinks Gragnani can help on the PP--hopefully, Gragnani has been given a stern talking to about shooting the puck and not being a one-dimensional passer. But if he was worried about losing Weber, I don't know how playing him in one game and then sending him back to the press box is going to help any. In fact, it might make things worse. Weber may be wondering if he's ever going to get a fair opportunity.

Oh boy. You've obviously saying that in jest, but you know that's going to be trotted out by somebody in the future. That or Gragnani's summer day on the Pegulas' boat.
If I recall correctly, this will be the first game of the year I am either not at or watching live. Ack.
I have yet to wear my Vanek jersey for a game. I'm thinking about busting it out for this one. The way I figure it, either he comes out on fire and gets a hat trick or he disappears completely. (Or I guess, it doesn't affect the game at all, but that's no fun). :p

That said, we lose in a stinker. 2-1 Flames.
You may be right with the trade bait. I don't know. If that is the reason Grags better pick his game up because, right now, we couldn't get a bag of pucks in return for him with the way he has been playing.
Thomas Vanek - Ville Leino - Jason Pominville
Luke Adam - Derek Roy - Drew Stafford
Cody McCormick- Paul Gaustad - Brad Boyes
Nathan Gerbe - Matt Ellis - Corey Tropp
Robyn Regehr - Tyler Myers
Christian Ehrhoff - Andrej Sekera
Jordan Leopold - Marc-Andre Gragnani
Jhonas Enroth
Ryan Miller
Were those the lines in practice today? I assumed Ruff would stick with his old lines that he returned to in the final 2 periods of Wednesday's games and keep Leino with Roy & Stafford and Adam with Vanek & Pominville....
Same with the defense pairings....I'd be surprised if Weber is sat out again after only 1 game.
Haha. That's Lindy's idea of trying to not lose Weber? What a crock of ****.
My thoughts exactly - when did Ruff become such a blatant hypocrite where he does a complete 180 in such a short time span?
I guess he loved Gragnani's work habit on Wednesday and yesterday and was worried that he'd "lose" him if he sat him out for more than a game.

Guys, are you aware how dire our cap situation is? We can't be trading a player who makes peanuts ($550k) when we're $50k from the salary cap. Gragnani has to be on the team, his salary necessitates it. It's just that most believe he should be the #7.
