Alrighty, if we're going to do this, keep it on topic and civil.

Nothing here yet.

This is more of a thread for the summer. No team is going to bench their 6 million, Vezina trophy winning goalie in season unless he is truly awful for like 20 games. Miller has earned the right to have a couple of bad games and still have his job.

No controversy.

Miller is the #1, he starts tonight, hopefully has a good game and this thread goes into the "silly" category.

ride enroth out until he loses back to back game.

wins in the beginning of the season r mandatory.
dont want to be chasing down playoff spot # 8 with 20 games left like last year.

Any posts questioning whether or not this thread should exist will not be dealt with kindly.

I've said it many times before but it always bears repeating...

Boston benched Thomas in favor of Rask, coming off Thomas' Vezina season.

And what's their recent record with Miller in goal? Either Enroth is better and wins more, or the team plays better in front of Enroth. Either way, it's an argument for Enroth.

Miller/Enroth and Thomas/Rask are completely different situations with different goalies.

Miller is healthy. He's had 2 bad games. TWO. Not 20. Not 10. Not even 5.

TWO

Miller's numbers for October:

4-4 .930 SP. 2.14 GAA

Yes. Let's bench him and never play him again!!!

3-0 .958 1.29

Let's ride the hot goaltender

Where are all those "the wins in October/November are just as important as the ones in March"...

We will certainly play Miller again... but If I'm coach, I ride a hot goaltender ALWAYS. ALWAYS. ALWAYS. Everything else goalie related is secondary.

Nobody is saying that. People just want to ride a hot hand for a couple of games. That's it. Team is 7-5. We need some wins under our belt.
Miller is the #1 but Enroth is playing better and he did win that Pittsburgh so that was a tough opponent.
We'll see what Miller does against Ottawa tonight and go from there. I'd assume he starts against Winnipeg unless he really sucks.
There is a real problem here in that Miller seems to be losing the fans. Rightly or wrongly. The cheers for Enroth were pretty might Friday night.

It seems to me that the goalie who starts on Tuesday is the nominal starting goaltender of this team. Do you agree and are you really open to Enroth being the starter?

I'm looking forward to seeing how Miller performs with someone pushing him for starts.
This.

Do I think Enroth should be the starter? No.
Do I think he should see the ice more when he is playing the way he is playing? Heck yeah.

I don't look at it that way. There can be swaths of the season where there is a 50/50 split without there being a changing of the guard. I don't think I will stop being amazed at how many people think there is a controversy over a handful of good starts from Enroth and, what, 2.5 bad or subpar starts from Miller.

Based on their record. Ruff needs to ride a hot hand.
Or if you want to take it a step further....What happens if Miller lets in multiple softies vs the Sens and gets yanked again....Then who starts the game after ?

With Miller as your #1? I wouldn't. Goalies are an odd bunch and Miller is no exception.

I'm not saying protect his ego, but don't be so quick to deflate it.

p.s. Someone like Thomas is more of an exception than a rule. That is, someone who will take losing his job in stride and find a way to get it back.

If Miller has another craptacular game and they lose, I think it's a no brainer. Enroth plays vs the Jets. But if they win despite Miller playing bad I think they go back to Miller vs the Jets and let him work his way out of this funk.

Define controversy. There's no actual controversy until Lindy says so and he hasn't made any startling moves to indicate a controversy. On the doomsday clock, I'd say the minute hand has moved a little closer to midnight though. There is certainly a controversy among the fans. The cheer for Enroth said it all. The message boards are full of it. It's hardly media-driven either. The Buffalo media couldn't stir up a tempest in a tea pot.

I'd love to know what's being said behind closed doors at the arena. If Regier, Ruff, Corsi and the pro scouts haven't had The Conversation, they should be fired. It's their job to do their due diligence. How good is Enroth now? How good can he be? Will the first half Vezina season Miller return? Can he be that in the playoffs? And so on.

I know the franchise is risk-averse and Terry is loyal and all that, but you have to at least be thinking about scenarios.

If the team plays like it did last night it doesn't matter who is in net. I'm more concerned with seeing that than the starting goalie.

I really don't care who starts tonight. A solid argument can be made for either of them.

I think this whole controversy has more to do with the great play of Enroth rather than the average play of Miller. I mean if Enroth was sucking and was 0-3 would anyone be looking for Miller to be yanked?

Let's be thankful we have the legit backup that we've so desired since losing Biron. If Miller continues his sub-par performances and Enroth continues to shine, perhaps we can revisit this in a few weeks, but this is far too premature imo. Benching your starting goalie does not win over a locker room and deflating his ego can have long-lasting effects. Goaltending is all about confidence.

Miller starts tonight, most likely Tuesday, Enroth will get one of the starts next weekend. Probably the home game against Ottawa.

There is no question or controversy about who is the #1 goalie.
