IMO Bailey has been one of the teams best forwards the past couple of games, looks like he is starting to gain confidence. I would really like to see them test a line of Bailey-Tavares-Okposo for a couple of games.
The whole Bailey line has looked much improved the last 3 games. But any glimmer of offensive pressure is a complete 180 from what they were doing the previous 7.
I would love to see Matt Martin play with JT. He played with Stamkos right?
Yes he did, however JT and Stamkos are completely different types of players. I think Martin could become a Lucic-lite type of player, but I don't think he's ready for top line minutes. I wouldn't mind seeing a for a bit, but thats kind of throwing Martin to the wolves a bit early.
I agree, however it's hard to say that they have not played pretty good hockey lately. If Rolston was not on that line I really think Baileys and Comeau would have a few points each.
i can see that. I can also see that Rolston would have a few assists if Comeau &/or Bailey would get to the front of the net to bang home some rebounds. Then again, Rolston's shots would need to be on goal for that to happen.
It was a poorly conceived line, especially with Comeau being an on again off again physical player. I wouldn't mind seeing that Bailey & Comeau with Nino when he comes back. I'd also kill for Comeau to come streaking down the wing & just let a slapper rip. but that's another story.
Marting goes to the net a lot and Pandolfo is a true 4th line grinder/pk specialist. This will force Bailey to simply his game and shoot more.
If Bailey shoots more, then he plays better. I would literally forbid Josh from passing the puck in the offensive zone when his chest is facing the goalie, just fire away. He needs to play a simple, simple game. He has the skills and talent to be a good NHL player, its a question of whether or not he will learn to make the effective play (and safe) vs. the sexy play (and risky).
I've been calling for Grabner to play on a line with Tavares for nearly a year now. At first I was excited at the thought, but it's take so long that I'm more relieved now than anything else. Who knows if anything will come of it, but this is an opportunity that should have been afforded to both Tavares and Grabner, as Grabs has the one significant element Tavares (and Moulson) lack - Speed.
With Tavares' passing/vision, teams will have to be on the lookout for Grabner breaking more than ever and this can only open up the ice for JT.
