The Oiler’s were pretty good at blocking shots. Regardless, we should have had a lot more. They played a good defensive game but there are two sides to that--we have to play a lot better offensively."

If we had the answers (to our offensive struggles), we wouldn’t be in this predicament. Why? I really wish I had a good answer for you, but I really don’t. We’ve got a lot of great offensive players here, a lot of talent, but for some reason we are an offensively challenged team. One goal in three [home] games makes it pretty tough to win hockey games. We need to try and find a way to be a little more creative. We need to do something to try and create some offense and score some goals and give Quicker some help back there."

It’s five guys down real low, and when we don’t use our defensemen, it’s kind of like playing 3-on-5 down there, and that’s tough. So we’re trying to get them more involved and be a little more imaginative. It’s discouraging, but we can’t get discouraged. That’s one thing that we’re not going to do. We’re going to push through and work harder and not let it get like last year, where we lost seven in a row. We’re going to right it right away, and we’re due for a big one.
We’ll get it. You look at the teams in the league, and I’m pretty sure we’re pretty low in goals-against also. We don’t play the type of game where we’re going to win 6-5, 7-6. That’s not the way we’re built and that’s not the way our system is. Come playoff time, we win by playing our system and playing good defensively. … We’ll be fine. As I said, it’s discouraging but we can’t be discouraged. We need to push forward and realize that second and third opportunities are the ones that are going to be good for us right now, just to get a lot of guys (going) who are struggling to score, but I guess that’s everybody. We just want guys feeling good about themselves, and getting into their heads the ability to make plays."

The third goal is a pass that comes from our D and hits [Anze] Kopitar in the back of the foot and they go ahead and score on it. I look at that as bad bounces that happen over the course of the year and that’s what I chalk it up to right now."

LET'S GO KINGS !!!

- UPCOMING SCHEDULE -

NOTE : Regarding LARGE SIZE IMAGES / YELLOW RE-SIZE IMAGE BARS ABOVE PICS, let me offer up one nice little suggestion ...
This will get rid of those pesky yellow resize bars over the top of some larger pictures ... as they annoy the hell out of me and maybe they do you also ?
- Go into/click on your "USER CP" {control Panel} up top left in the red bars
- on the left under 'Settings & Options' click on "Edit Options"
- scroll down to 'Thread Display Options', and then 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- click on the 'Drop Down List Box' over on the Right of 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- select it to "KEEP ORIGINAL SIZE"
- SAVE your selections !
There ... now don't that look MUCH BETTER

Crosby hasn't played a single game and Malkin has missed half of their games and they are still 8th in scoring according to the graphic. Imagine how much this team would be struggling without Kopitar and Richards. Hell, even just Kopitar. Scary thought.

Compliments on the GDT, very well done. I hope Staal actually isn't scratched (Bylsma is being coy about it), we're going to need him. Should be a great game.

We obviously need the supreme crown head overlords to shoot Oreos of death at the Pens or else we won't score.

It's mildly amusing that we've lost 3 straight, our offense went to ****, and we are trying to get the defense more involved in offensive play... ever since Voynov was sent down...

Doughty and Johnson need to take over. With our defense and goaltending I would even suggest that they need to be riskier. Do whatever it takes to counter the system.

Doughty needs a solid 10 games to get back into game shape without disruptions like hits and extreme travel and contract negotiations. He'll get back into shape.

Doughty and JJ are also trained to get involved when the play calls for it and if the Kings can't keep sustained pressure in the offensive zone, Doughty and JJ will not go in deep and leave the backdoor open if they're worth anything at all defensively.

Once the Kings reestablish that offensive pressure, you will see Doughty and JJ get more involved I bet.

At this point I think we should just let Doughty and Johnson run wild and do their thang. Let Mitchell and Scuds clean up the mess.

yep, after a game where the captain says the team was uninspired, the coach scratches 1 of the few guys who brought energy to every shift. Sounds about right

It's a so so start to the season. This month should be better. Too much character in the room.

Playing Pittsburgh should provide a big spark. Good time to get their **** together..especially the secondary units. The leaders are doing a fine job so far, but it's important for Penner, and others, to break the spell. Let's hope for a big game from Doughty..be a difference maker out there.
