And, really. Mike Keenan was a huge jackass. He won us a Cup.

Torts can be a huge jackass. He won Tampa a Cup.

Maybe we need more jackasses around here.

Well, for one thing... when has Tortorella ever answered a question in a pre-game presser that doesn't have to do directly with the game they're about to play? By the time the Avery question was asked, it had turned into a joke.

Yep. Especially with how it was delivered. The media should probably know by now to only ask him questions about the game.

No, but I'm not calling him a jackass because of this incident. I called him a jackass when we first hired him.

You need to learn to laugh at some things from people you dislike, though. What he did today was pretty funny. Even the media thought so. No reason to rag on him for that. Especially when the people the joke was on even enjoyed it.

Haha..it's all good. I know he's not for everyone. Me, I think he's a pisser..Hell, my wife (a huge Devils fan) thinks he's hysterical. I just get tired of the same vanilla coaches with the same vanilla answers all the time, he makes it interesting pretty much every time out. So I don't have a problem with it...plus, he's not a bad coach!

Yeah, he is a jackass.

NYR was going for the Anti-Renney when they went a-hiring.

Again, I'm not ragging on him.

Tonight: wish he actually attempted to answer the questions.

In general: jackass.

Really though, Jon, I laugh at things from people I dislike all the time. Hell, I laughed at his initial response to Thornton.

Different strokes for different folks. Just not a fan of how he conducts himself.

I'm fine with people calling him a jackass, because he is. I can see how people may not like him.

But to say things that are simply not true, like how our young players hate the guy and can't play well under him, is ridiculous.

I've never seen you say things like that 2k2, so I probably shouldn't argue with you about it, but when people say that about Torts it pisses me off.

You are too stiff, my friend. You need to indulge yourself into some more deadpan comedy. None of the questions had much ado about the game at hand. He'd probably answer them if they did. The media brought it on themselves and Torts delivered well.

im with nyr on this one.. i dont think it was so funny. first of all, as someone who majored in journalism, these guys have stories to write and were asking questions that their readers (me) would like to know the answers to.

im not so sure all the reporters loved it. on twitter gross called it "ridiculous". i happen to agree. youre the coach of a professional sports franchise. these arent annoying, pressing questions.. this is part of the job.

2k2 is much more thoughtful in his dislike of Torts than 99% of Rangers fans (you know, the guys who call him a clown and sport avatars saying the same thing). I disagree with him here because I think this was pretty funny. Granted, I am a sarcastic **** who can deadpan with the best of them, but I'm pretty surprised people don't find this funny.

I don't know, I probably shouldn't have said anything since I don't really care about it either way.

It is what it is!

I can see how it's funny, but he could've answered the questions. Just more Torts ego if you ask me.

Who gives a crap if he doesn't answer the media. I might lose sleep over it.

Ha, right. That's totally what I was saying.

I just would have liked to know the answers to the questions, to satisfy my own curiosity as a fan.

You tell him dude. Tort's has more personality in his pinkie finger than all the vanilla coaches we've had in the past except Iron Mike Keenan.
