Flyers sign three

Resigned Deschenes (boo) and Murphy (yay), and signed Printz. Hopefully Printz pans out.

Phantoms are looking at a pretty good strong young core this season.

Printz reportedly had a good prospect camp and can play a physical game. That is something lacking in our base of D. The Phantoms may be fun to watch.

I'm really shocked about Printz. I have heard him referred to as a pylon on the ice.

Hey, I was a pylon when I started out too. What is wrong with that?

I heard he leveled Voce, he must be a monster of a hitter

Printz is pretty big, throw him on the Phantoms and hope he at least increases his trade value.

How deep are the Phantoms at defense? I'm not sure Printz is AHL material, but I hope I'm wrong, he didn't play at the highest level in Sweden.

Will Dennis Seidenberg be eligeble to play for the Phantoms?

The Phantoms are pretty good on defensive depth. www.phantomshockey.com has an updated roster page.

Well, what do you know? I think the Phantoms just might have enough candidates for left wing, with these 2 new ones. I count Voce as a left wing, you know, even though that roster only has 3 Centers as of now (Umberger, P. White, Abel). That's 10 left wing candidates by my count. Since they will probably have Josh Gratton as a dressed extra forward or 4th liner. That leaves 3 spots for the remaining 9 guys. So there may be cuts or players going to the Trenton Titans. Maybe they slide Mark Murphy to RW. I see the forwards thus: C-Umberger, P. White, Abel (another C can be an occasional player in certain configurations) RW-Meloche, M. Murphy, Stafford LW-Eager,Brent Robinson, Kane, Ryan Ready, J. Gratton, Voce, Brunelle, Deschenes, J. Smith. Not alot of room for under 20 year old players, it seems. And it seems Rosario Ruggeri is often listed as a Right Hand shot, I thought he was a Left-Hand Shot.

Oh yeah , eligibility. According to Bruce Garrioch in a recent Canoe, Slam Sports article, about a month ago Bill Daley (NHL) sent a letter to NHLPA, et. al. that the proposed rule that a locked out player would have had to have played or be assigned in the AHL for 50 games to play in AHL this season has been rescinded. They will not object to players who do not need to clear waivers being assigned there. NHLPA says it will not oppose these players being assigned if player doesn't object. Therefore , Seidenberg (Sharp, Pitkanen (?)) and others on 2 way contracts would be eligible. More veteran players could play if they clear waivers, evidently. Printz----as to Printz not playing on top league in Sweden, prospect stats on Flyers website (last time I looked) had Printz playing 41 games in Sweden and 7 games in Sweden 2, in his most recent season.
