NJD Prospect/Rookie NHL Comparisons

What older, experienced proven NHL players do you see our prospects play like. I am not saying that our prospects will reach that potential, so get the wrong impression. Go one by one. The names to the right on the "..." are my choices.

Larsson...Lidstrom
Josefson...Fisher
Tedenby...St. Louis
Henrique...Kopitar (I see it in him)
Kinkaid...Rinne
Wedgewood...
Clermont...
Urbom...Ohlund
Merrill...
Gelinas...
Burlon...

(list any more that you want, I was just thinking of the bigger ones that came to mind right away. ALSO, the ones I put blank are because I haven't seen them play enough.)

I see Elias in Josefson.

I don't see Kopitar in Henrique. More like Parise, as others have said.

The Tedenby and St. Louis comparison has made 0 sense since day one. They are two entirely different players. They're just both short. I see more mini-Kovalchuk in Tedenby than I do St. Louis.

Meh, I'm not a fan of comparing prospects or any player to another player. Every player is different.

This is just setting them up to disappoint. Every player is different.

I feel like our goalie prospects will never actually start or be a backup in the NHL

I disagree. They both have above average hands and elite skating ability. They use their skating to blow past guys and they can still fight through checks along the boards.

When I think St. Louis, I think of a pass-first kind of player. When I think Tedenby, I think of a goal scorer.

This is largely a futile exercise, players are who they are and they develop based on their skills, opportunities and potential; trying to find similar players and form fit your expectations based on the stats of these other men is at best unproductive and at worst maddening. imo

hard for me cause its my 2nd NHL seasons and i dont know all players of other teams so good...but i try:

Larsson...Ehrhoff. Physical, great offensively, heavy shot, great breakout passes, makes plays, perfect passes, PP Quarterback...

Josefson...Zajac, on the technical site a little bit Datsyuk

Tedenby...St. Louis -> absolutely!

Henrique...a defensive version Duchene. YES i see this in him. he has this one-on-one ability, the speed, the toughness and a lot of defensive ability

Kinkaid...Rinne -> if this is true, it would be amazing. Rinne is awesome!

about the rest...i dont know the guys too well :/
Wedgewood...
Clermont...
Urbom...
Merrill...
Gelinas...
Burlon...

I don't know man, St. Louis can finish just as well as any player in the league IMO. He regularly scores highlight reel goals.

teddy has a long way to go to be in st louis shadow. kids a mess defensively and all over the place offensively. luckily, hes young enough to learn how to put it together and talented enough to make it work. when he fills out his teddy ruxpin frame a little more, has a good center and stable linemates, slows the game down in his head a little more, and is making the right moves defensively, then...ill consider him a st louis lite. until then, hes just a really fast micro machine.

I said it before and I'll say it again; if Henrique exceeds expectations, he will become a Kesler 2.0. Of course it'll be a while before he comes close to that level. But considering everything he's done in the previous leagues he was in and how clutch he was in juniors, I don't think I'm overrating him saying that. Just my opinion.

Also, something I was thinking of. I don't think Henrique is better than Josefson yet, nor do I think Josefson is better than Henrique. I just think their styles of play are totally different. Josefson is light on his skates and thus is a smooth skater, while Henrique is more explosive with his skating. Henrique has a goal scorers instinct for finishing, while Josefson is more of a playmaker than a finisher. Josefson is quietly effective, pays attention to detail and does the little things that go unnoticed while fans are able to see more clearly what Henrique brings to the team. I hope Josefson and Zajac recover ahead of schedule, because what they bring will be a massive boost.

I said it in another thread, but I think of Henrique as a Bolland-esque player. Important to the team, great hockey sense, hard worker, can play with or against pretty much anyone, but lacks the top end skill to be dominant game in and game out.

I haven't seen a ton of Bolland, so I could be off, but I'm sticking with it until proven otherwise.

Henrique is not like Kopitar.

Kopitar is like 6'4'' 220 and Henrique is barely 6' 190. Kopitar uses his size a lot in his game and thats something that Henrique wont really be able to do
