Parros out a month with torn retina

http://ducks.nhl.com/club/news.htm?i...id=DL|ANA|home

Didn't see this posted anywhere and figured it probably deserved its own thread.

Not that Parros is particularly intimidating but our bottom 6 just got even softer than it already was.

Ugh. Sucks to hear this. Since JF Jacques finished his suspension, I'm guessing he's in. Hope he keeps his "edge" and gives our skill players some time and space.
Get well soon Georgie.

Ouch. That puck ripped him up earlier. And it tore a retina? Crazy.

According to Crunch fans, we don't even have an enforcer for the AHL. Where are we going to get one for the NHL too?

If Burke were GM, we'd overpay to get an asset needed ASAP, sort of like Parros for a 2nd. But Murray isn't as interested in the grit and he likes to gamble for reclamation projects. So I could see Jacques getting a longer look.

I thought that was two different puck incidents.

It was. One to each side of his face. The most recent one was on his left side. This is the side that he had to have surgery on today.

I wonder if Bodie will get the nod over JFJ since we already have a few bottom 6 LWs. I guess Gordon or DSP could slide to the 4th line and we can have the bottom 6 be:
Mcmillan - Holland - DSP/Gordon
Beleskey - Mace - DSP/Gordon

Maybe Sexton or Palmieri (if healthy enough) get the call and play 3rd line RW for a little more offense.

Lol at calling up Sexton wouldn't surprise me with Murray
Syracuse is already complaining of being run and abused and I guess it now will carry over here.
Hopefully Sexton is called up and Murray trades for Ryan Shannon

hahaha yeah really. I don't want Sexton recalled, but I wouldn't be surprised with BM. He did score 9 points in 5 periods this weekend

The real question isn't when he can play again, it's when he can fight again. You'd have to think he's risking retinal detachment if he fights too soon and to be honest he's not quite useful enough without being able to fight.

Very sorry to hear about this injury; here's hoping Parros makes a full recovery.
As for who to call up, that is a difficult question. Jacques, Bodie, and Brittan are the closest the Crunch have to "protectors", but none of the three are going to make anyone think twice about running another player. The Crunch are amongst the lower end of the league in penalties per game, as well as attendance being a lot less than announced. Attendance usually picks up later in the season, but that will remain to be seen if the team does not start winning or playing physical.
It would appear that the best bet for the organization is going to be shop for an enforcer that is not being dressed by his current team. There are a couple out there, so time will tell.

Getting hit in the eye is the worst. Not only is it painful as all hell (in my opinion just as painful as getting hit in the testicles), but it's not always clear how severe the injury is.

My sister once hit me in the eye with a beanie baby. It was a snake so all the beans or whatever are in there gathered in the tail, and she whipped me right in my eye. I fell to the ground in excruciating pain. I can't imagine how a puck would feel. For months after that, I would see flashing blind spots out of the corner of my eye, and it turns out I had a very slight tear. No surgery or anything was done and it eventually healed itself.

Hopefully George isn't permanently damaged.

So was your sister remorseful, or did she enjoy your suffering?

She was like 7 years old at the time, and even then she was apologetic. Being 15 years older than her, I understood it was an accident. Just a hazard of being a big brother.

So, she enjoyed the suffering, but played it off well. Nice.

Heard about this, wanted to drop by. Pucks to the eye are no laughing matter. Malhotra up here still isn't back to where he was. Nasty. It's particularly bad because you really can't train or do anything that would get your blood pressure very high for quite a while after surgery like that. Ouch.

Get well soon, Parros.

Maybe Murray knew this was gonna happen and that's why he made Jacques serve his suspension earlier. Feel better George! Now he can spend some time with the twins.

You were 22 and got beat up by a 7 year old? Did I read that right?
