Thoughts on Scott Parse?

How do you guys feel he has done so far? 2 goals in 7 games isn't exactly igniting it offensively. But with me it's never been about the numbers from Parse, it's all the little things away from the puck.

Too many minor penalties, but aside from that I feel like he has improved on his puck pursuit and board battles immensely since we last saw him on a consistent basis.

How does everyone else feel about the guy thus far? Is he worth being in the top 6? Hate him? Love him? Don't care?

He's not a top six period. I'm also tired of hearing he's top 3 in skill on the team.

Wasn't that 2 years ago when Lombardi made that statement? I don't think he is still considered top 3 anymore.

If the guy can score 2 goals every 7 games, he is going to have a spot on the team. He brings little else besides offense.

Agree. That would be slightly over 20 goals in a season, but around here every top-sixer is expected to be a 30-goal scorer. BTW, Brown sucks!

If Parse is one of your top three skill players, then you simply are not a very skilled team. He's been forced into a top six role because the Kings have a huge waste of space in Penner that they can't figure out what to do with.

aside from the penalties, he has outplayed pretty much every forward except Kopitar and Richards. He isn't a turnover machine like Brown and Williams, and seems more noticeable out there than Gagne

You guys are confusing skill and, hockey player. A player can be absolutely highly skilled, and be a **** player, while a hockey player can have little skill, but be very effective as a hockey player,

Gagne is going to need time off from time to time, he looked great the first 5 games, then has tapered off, then has looked good last game, etc, but his age is going to hurt him during an 82 game season, he's going to have periods of ineffectiveness

For Murray hockey it is unleashed offensive.
He is our best LW prospect. Like it or not

As I've mentioned previously, Parse is a one dimensional player. The guy could score but not much more than that.

I remember Parse having a little more attitude his first year...ie pushing back in scrums and throwing the body...don't notice much of that anymore.

Parse has been more dangerous, and is playing much better than he did early in camp and the season. But, when you don't bring other things to the table, you have to score more than he is doing right now.

Hopefully he can spark the 3rd line and help out with secondary scoring.

To me, Parse is the equivalent to the color tan. I just don't care one way or another.

I would give him more chances in SO. Kopitar, Parse and one other.

It's a very difficult adjustment for a jock to get back to 100% after an injury, the body just "feels weird", like it's not going to respond properly or the healed part is going to let go in the middle of a move and will be re-injured. Much more mental than we think.

I see his game improving. He's hustling more especially on the back checks (had a great one against Pittsburgh), he's getting stronger on the boards (behind the net), making some small, tight, plays around the crease. Mixing it up with opponents and fighting for pucks. He's much more involved in the whole game on the ice. Not just on his special, offensive, part of it.

Basically, I see an offensive player who is coming around from some serious injuries. Still testing and working his body. But, he's getting quicker on his first step and making better decisions.

This, he's been effective when he has been on the ice when he was put in a top 6 role. More so than Penner. Trouble is he hasn't been able to stay on the ice with all the penalties, but he looks a lot more comfortable lately and hopefully if that continues he gets the penalties under control. Regarding the comment by DL about him being top 3 in skill. Well when the comment was made it was true, there was no Richards, no Gagne, no Penner. It was pretty much Kopitar, Doughty, Parse, then Brown, Williams and the rest really. Now he's maybe late top 10 in skill this year, but he's still a skilled forward that can be effective at times.
