Around the league games 2011-2012

For those who just want to watch any and all hockey:

Leafs vs. Senators tonight/about to start

I couldn't find the old around the league thread so I thought I'd start a new one for this season. If a mod has that bookmarked or something and would rather bump that and merge this with it, I'm all for it!

Also, Supposedly the league is using the shallower net in this game discussed at the R&D camp earlier the summer. Also a clear skirt around the bottom of the net instead of the white.

yayyy hockey!

I'll be watching it, I'm sick so can't do much but lie down.

I'd rather watch hockey then baseball, the Sox are putrid right now...

Hope you fell better. I woke up yesterday with a cold starting...No big deal.

I have the game on. I can't wait to watch the B's play again.

I really like those new nets. Creates so much more space behind the net. I know the nets are probably a year away if they are approved but are we going to see that green goal strip this year?

Did I miss something this off season? Whats with the hype about Buffalo on the main board? ie: playoffs, expecting deep run, winning division etc.

They did improve from last year with the additions of Regher, Ehrhoff and Leino. Also Boyes late in the year and Roy didn't really play last year. I think the Bruins, Sabres and Habs will fight for the division, Sabres are a deep team

David Rundblad was terrible last night. Leafs are easily going to win the cup this year, I can see that after one preseason game.

I googled "new nhl hockey nets" and all I got was a youtube vid
and it looked like the only thing different was a plexi glass top of
the net.

Anything else change, and why put plexi glass on the top ?

The nets are shallower, to allow more space for plays behind it. There's also an additional "insurance" goal line, right behind the red line. If the puck touches that line at all, you know it's a goal.

So Loungo doesn't have to chase his water bottle around the rink 5+ times a game

On the other side it looks like it will be a very long season for the Senators. Especially for their goaltenders.

The nets are about 4in shallower which creates a surprisingly amount of space behind the net.

I think the plexiglass on top is so that the overhead goal camera has a much clearer view of the inside of the goal.
