Who knows if Bouchard can revive his career. I doubt it, but he did score 125 points in juniors as an 18 year old. Worst case, we lost a defenseman whose max potential is as a #6 for a minor league. This won't matter to the franchise.
Whale now have 10 defenders on their roster and only 12 fwds.
4 Stu Bickel
5 Blake Parlett
6 Wade Redden
8 Jyri Niemi
9 Brendan Bell
25 Pavel Valentenko
27 Jared Nightingale
44 Tim Erixon
77 Lee Baldwin
84 Tomas Kundratek
Something is gonna have to give... Deveaux will probably be sent down again but 10 defensemen??!!!??? If the rangers sign Strålman or McCabe - that would probably mean Woywitka gets sent down too... Will be interesting to see how this pans out. Trade Redden?

1-1 and shots 11-11 after one period on 11/02/11...
"Bouchard is a skilled guy that can play all positions and just needed a change of scenery," said Jeff Gorton, the Rangers assistant general manager, following the trade. "We like his sense and playmaking ability."
Not happy about this. It may be a minor move but I liked Kundratek and had hopes of him reaching the NHL at some point. Caps win this one. Bouchard is already 22-23.
Kundratek is another 2008 draft pick no longer part of the Rangers organization.Grachev was traded to St.Louis. Weise was lost on waivers to Vancouver. Doyle and Gaulton were never offered contracts.

With who though? Not the Rangers.
It's a lateral move in my opinion. Neither of these guys will make significant impacts with either team and neither weren't going to anyway.

And why not with the Rangers? Look at the team this season. All it takes is one injury and spots open up.
People said the same thing about Mike Sauer last year.
He is a good skater who is physical and has a bomb from the point. Underrated player in the Ranger organization. Good job by the Caps buying low on Kundratek.
Knew something had to be on the way with the ****-ton of dmen this team had between the NHL and AHL. Sucks to see TK go because I know a lot of posters were high on him but the dude was a healthy scratch for a while.

Because Sauer played himself to the top of the Rangers depth chart and onto the team and Kundratek can barely play himself onto the Whale?

Think about it. Staal was out and he didn't even come to Europe. I think that says all it needs to about how far down he was on the Rangers depth chart. They went out and picked up Woywitka, called up Bell and signed Stralman. Picking up Erixon this summer pretty much sealed his fate here. He wasn't going to get his chance here, thats just the truth.
And Sauer was hampered by injuries for most of his career before last year.
He might be a good player someday, but it wasn't going to be with the Rangers.

Sauer was not at the top of the Whale's depth chart pretty much ever on a regular basis. He was a solid, unspectacular AHL player. He also had a few major injuries while down there.
For all intents and purposes, they are very similar players in the fact that they are defensive defenseman who will drop the gloves if need be. Except Kundratek runs around a little bit at times whereas Sauer is positionally sound, and Kundratek throws some bone-jarring hits.

Yoy may not have given up on Kundratek, but it was pretty clear that the Ranger organization gave up on him. It wouldn't have taken one injury--there would have had to be about five injuries before they were going to take a look at him.

I am in no way upset he was traded. I am upset with the return.
