Artistic it was not, but I thought they boosted the degree of difficulty. Therefore, I will give them 2 points.

Is there a way the Oilers can win a trade with Montreal for Gagner? I swear the Habs seem to have cornered the market on players that fall down immediately when touched.

This said, the same game replayed 10 times the Habs win 9 times out of 10.

That kid line shift in the 3rd where they schooled the Habs was a thing of beauty. Too bad every other shift by them looked horrible.

Its too bad Khabi let in such a softie. He was superhuman on every other shot except for that one.

Isn't it nice to see veteran players picking up the team when the young guys are struggling? Over the past several years we've had to watch a tonne of veteran players play the role of passenger while the youngsters played their ***** off.

Thank God for Ryan Smyth.

Much like his effectiveness at centre...why take a guy who is playing an effective role on the fourth line and replace him with a player who has shown no chemistry this season/most of the previous year? Let Gagner figure his sheat out on the wing - less painful than killing two lines hoping he will find some form of "touch".

True, but the puck, on the goal, did deflect off Gilbert's stick, so he gets a pass, imo. Also, because he won the game.

I agree that shift from the kid line was a thing of beauty, but despite their struggles, I give Tom Renney Alot of credit for still rolling them out there in the 3rd to protect the lead. The easy thing to do would be to just bench them, and he didn't, he let them battle through their struggles.

I think people around here are giving way to much credit to the habs tonight.

If they didn't play the entire second period on the power play we would be the noticeable "better" team tonight.

I suppose by virtue of the fact that we killed all those penalties we "were" the better team.

also, it's difficult to register more than 13 shots when the magical Horcoff misses the net from 2 feet outside the blue paint. That's not easy.

Looking through NHL stats, I found a pretty interesting stat. Out of the 14 games Edmonton has played this year, they've had the lead after the second period in all but 3 games, 2 of which they won.

Not counting the Smyth crossbar rattler the Oilers missed the net A LOT as a team in the third.

The guy from Russia (who obviously hasn't watched any games) was amusing.

Ah. To be honest, I missed that goal. I just saw the hightlight and didnt see the deflection.

If the kids struggle and the vets get us 2 points, then all is good. The kids will come around. Once Hemsky gets going, the kids will get more room and chances.

I just noticed that we have two back-to-backs in the same week later in the month: Dallas/Nashville and then Minnesota/Colorado two days later. That's ridiculous!

So after tonight I'm hoping that Boston's performance was inflated because a.the leafs are playing terrible and b. the islanders are playing terrible. The goalies from both of those teams got pulled in those games, so maybe it won't be a massacre on Thursday?

If Khabi plays like he has, I wouldn't worry too much. Not saying it's a for sure win, but it'll be close, if nothing else. You can call me on it, if that's what happens.

I may not always be right, but I'm never wrong.

I disagree. Hall hasn't been the player "stirring the drink" for the kid line. It's been much more so RNH and Eberle thus far.

Hall is beginning to create more room for RNH/Eberle by his physical play. We know he has the hands - he is starting to demonstrate the body.

WE used to lose games in Montreal a lot so I am happy with the win, but less than happy with the offence. Too many of these types of games and it will come back to bite you.

From what I saw Eager is the one coming out next game. There is no way we can change the lineup enough to deal with Boston's grit, so sit eager and add MPS.

The lines should Be:

Hall Horcoff Hemsky
Smyth RNH Eberle
MPS Lander Gagner
Petrell Belanger jones

Where have I seen that system implemented recently hmmm....

As I said in the summer I would have offered Sam Gagner for Cody Franson and a third.

This would have benifited both teams IMO and Franson would fit beautifully with Renney's system.
