If the Avs wanted to make a change in the coaching, it would've probably happened after last night.
I know we are all tired of the team being Detroit, Calgary, Vancouver, ect.'s prison ***** game after game after game, but it seems that management is cool with it. I think that term is pretty accurate too as the players and coaches just lay back and take it without responding at all.
We have no leaders on this team, no one to guide our youth. That includes players and coaches.

People are retarded if they think one more loss would initiate such a change any way. It will take a huge string of losses for a change to be made so early in the season, I think.
And any fan that is rooting for that can piss off.
To be clear, I never said I WANTED them to lose and I never do but I EXPECT them to lose if I read the body language on this team correctly right now. The Isles will come out and skate hard and probably get a couple of fluky goals from MILAN JURCINA and then nail us with their PP. We'll be down 3-0 and then really start to turn it up, maybe score 1 and then their goalie will shut the door. You know, same old stuff.

It's MY first GDT, I hope it doesn't end there!
I feel like I should close this thread out of respect for the [/thread]

We've already been sold to the Isles by Detroit for a pack of smokes.
The line juggling has become kind of a joke, I agree. It's like Sacco expects a certain combo to magically produce and the flood gates will open. But, the on the same note, the Avs signed Lindstrom and Kobasew to produce offensively and play big roles on the team and that cannot be ignored. IMO, the Avs need another top 6 forward badly, especially with the future of Mueller so uncertain. It was another example of the Avs holding tightly onto their checkbooks and looking for the cheap way out. I know we've got some contracts coming up, but nabbing a top 6 guy would not have killed them either.
It also can't be ignored that management stated they won't be paying above the cap floor until the next CBA.

Oh wait... it does get ignored!
I really hope it works out for the Avs. I know they're super paranoid after getting ripped apart by the CBA last time, it'd be nice if it benefited the team this time.

Yeah, maybe they'll be the team picking up a Forsberg and Foote this time around. I'm sure that's what they're hoping for. It's frustrating that they're only patching holes with temporary pieces instead of replacing the positions that need to be replaced, but... they did tell us that's what was going to happen.
The ultiamte things that I sort of see at the end of the year/day is, like it was just mentioned, were only spending 49M on our team, and were loosing to teams that are spending 60M or more on there teams. If we were to be spending that much on our team this year, we would have the 1-2 more Legitimate Top 6 guys on our team, and the extra Top 4 Dman that we need.
I sort of did some rough estimates of our teams salary last year, and it came out at 50M, without anybody playing the 2nd Line C role or the 2nd line LW Role. I dont think my estimates will be that far off(Had EJ at 4M, Duchene at 5M, Oreilly at 2.5M, others no huge increase, also had Stefan Elliot slotted in the 2nd D pairing at 0.9M). So if with the new CBA the Cap doesnt move any, the Avs will have roughly 14M in space to use up, that will be more thn enough to lure a big name in! Just imagine how much better this team would be with Zach Parise playing one the 1st/2nd line and Grabovski centering the 2nd line, our top 9 would look SO MUCH better!
That would 100% be a playoff capable Top 9. Anyway probably sort of the wrong thread, but with talk of the Cap and our spending I though I would post my hopes for next year, even though this year is still really young and alot can happen! But if the Avs managment doesnt start spending a little more after this season, im going to be very dissapointed! Im fine with us doing bad and the Caps getting a good pick this year and rubbing it in our face, because it really is like were paying with 1-2 less Top end players then the Top teams with our low Cap, but after this year anything short of Playoffs IMO will be a bad year.
It's downfalls like this that makes me wonder why we've traded a 1st rounder and a 2nd rounder for Varlamov who was supposingly ready to bail out of Washington to return to Russia...
btw, I'm not saying Varlamov isn't good, I just think we could've gotten him at a much cheaper price...

Let's not go there again. Beaten to death already.
But, yes losing the 1st is a concern with a clown behind the bench and a lack of wingers.

Yea, does this team all of the sudden turn around and start grabbing more expensive, proven players once the new CBA is in effect? I don't want to start thinking about the offseason so early on, but you have to wonder what their game plan is considering they've spent so cautiously (cheaply?) since they got burned last time.
I just hope it means the end of putting our money on guys like Lindstrom, who haven't done anything in the NHL, and hoping they somehow perform way above the rest of the leagues expectations.

If the Avs DON'T lure in some bigger names/proven players after this season, then I am really going to question why exactly the Avs were so money conscious in the first place and point my finger right at the owner, Stan the Man (or his son... whatever).
I can accept saving the cap space if the team uses it to their advantage & have all of that room to grab a few top players / sign our keepers after the new CBA. Then it will be a plan well executed on their part. If they continue to look for the cheaper alternative routes... it'll be an epic "WTF" moment.
