I ****ing hate VS broadcasts. I was not going to post anything tonight, but they are so full of ****. Tampa is slowing the game down? We weren't the ones with the puck. They should have gotten a delay of game for that crap.

Uh...the way to counter it is by doing what Philly is doing. Philly is simply playing the game that Boucher wants to play. Not the other way around.

I don't understand why it's on the Lightning to force the puck movement if the other team is holding the puck in their own zone. When they have pisession they are attacking the Flyers zone on offense.

If your defense of Tampa right now is "well, they're just playing to win" then Philly is a doing the same thing as a result of what Tampa is doing.

Everything that's going on here is a result of Tampa playing the 1-3-1. Philly isn't at fault here.
I would agree that Philly's not at fault for being so ******** by a neutral zone forechecking system.

This "anti trap" didn't work out too hot for the Capitals last year either.
That's because we're one of the worst teams in the league in face-offs. Has been that way a while, but it's even worse this year.

Hey guys. Keith Jones is full of crap. I like him, but he's clearly a Flyers homer.

The team with possession is the team that the onus of puck movement is put on. In football if the offense doesn't run a play in a certain amount of time they get a penalty, in basketball they lose possession. In hockey if you have the puck you're supposed to move it up the ice, the defending team is not forced to go to you to get the puck; they're allowed to stand still and wait for you to come to them. Hence the term "defense".

Sure. So win for Boucher. If the Flyers aren't playing their free wheeling #1 offense in the league and are relegated to looking like idiots, giving up face offs in their own end, so be it.

Well if you don't like it then it must be great. Calling you a Negative Nancy would be an understatement.

But when your counter works against you(faceoff in your zone) it's not very effective.

the lightning are the ones thatare not plating, what are they going to do next, have all of the players stand in front of the goal? im very suprised by all you guys "loving it" and defending it. if the flyers ever did this i would honestly be ashamed.

What also is mind boggling to me, is the fact that this IS NOT the first time anyone has played a 1-3-1 system or "trapped" or clogged the neutral zone. I don't get why it's such a big deal. Did NJ ever deal with this or Detroit?

Not necessarily. As long as the refs don't force a face-off in our zone there's no disadvantage to what Philly is doing.

If you want to ignore that fact and the fact that it's turning this game into a massive joke that no fan should have to have paid for and it's dishonorable to the game of hockey then, yeah, it's a win for Boucher.

Exactly. It had been utilized in Europe for years.

But Philly is also playing in this game so they are just as culpable.

Trap teams for life.

Of course all teams use the trap but don't point that out on the main board.

So the talking heads are most upset because of the 1 defenseman in his own zone not attacking. But when NJ runs the 2-1-2 there are 2 defensemen in their own zone. But that is ok?

And Bowman is a genius for the left wing lock but these 'new' coaches are the problem.

And how is the onus on the team without the puck to change?

Its not fun to watch but then again neither was the devils trap all those years.
