Bought tickets to Jan 13th game...platinum game?

I recently purchased tickets for the sabres home game on january 13th against the leafs. In the variable pricing it says that this game is one of the only platinum games this season, basically meaning each ticket costs more.

Anyone have any ideas as to why this game is platinum and more expensive? Or do they need to have a certain amount of platinum games a year.

I believe it's considered platinum because of the rivalry between the Sabres & Leafs.... much like Yankees / Red Sox games are more expensive than other games.

Because it's a both Friday night game as well as a game that gets high ticket demand because of the combined Sabres and Leafs fans trying to get in. i.e.: high demand + limited quantities => high price.

Leafs games are guaranteed to sell-out way in advance, so they charge more for the tickets.

Was just wondering because the december 16th game betweent buffalo and toronto is on a friday and is only considered a Gold game.

Being later in the season may have something to do with it as well. And who knows if there is some sort of promotion going on that night. But most of the reasons have already been listed above.
