Its because this is an inaccurate statement. Burns has sucked balls in his own end. Although in LA he wasn't horrible, so that probably is the answer.

I am pretty excited to see how a Vlasic Braun pairing works out

I am confused by the GDT.
Do you mean to imply that Heatley is "Arrogant"?
Look at my avatar.
Even the esteemed ESPN NHL people, for some unknown reason, put his face on the front page with the caption "Best of The Best" just before the Vancouver Olympics.

He's the greatest man on earth!!

(okay, not sure where I'm going with this)

ANYWAY,

What a fun GDT!!
SNOG Sharks 3-1 (Pav, Burns, Havlat / Heatley)

Gonna be interesting to see how the crowd cheers for Seto and Heatley. My bet says Seto gets a big positive cheer and Heatley gets a golf clap, maybe even some boos.

They used Vlasic/Braun at the end of the LA game as THE shutdown pair; it worked. Previously, they moved Vlasic/Burns over Boyle/Murray to try their hand at shutdown and it failed. IMO, the Todd is searching for a definitive shutdown pair.

I actually like Vlasic-Braun. My only concern is how White-Burns will work out. With the kind of hockey Burns plays he needs to be complimented by a shutdown Dman. Not sure if White has played up to that standard yet.

Vlasic-Demers was one of our best pairs during the second half of last season, so Vlasic-Braun should be good if Braun doesn't start showing fatigue issues.

I'm wondering if we're heading towards a similar minute spread to Vancouver. Nearly all their defensemen play roughly 20 minutes a night. Boyle and Burns will probably still get more because of special teams.

Braun is a lot like Blake. He doesn't skate it up much, but he can pass and shoot. He doesn't get out of position vertically often, if at all.

I am waiting for White to step up. There will come a point where if his performance doesn't warrant a top 6 spot that he will be relegating to the #7 spot regardless of his reputation.

Maybe that's the idea behind giving him a big role tonight? See if he'll step up to match the role. I could see it failing in a bad way, though.

Great GDT sonticus! Hilarious and punctual. Good combo.

I'm all for leaving the D pairing the same as it was versus LA. That was possibly their best game as a unit. They forced things to the boards and made great quick passes to break out in the 2nd and 3rd.

PK is still an absolute disaster. But at least it's not so abstract and confused as it was with Yawney. Once the D-men get used to each other and play up to their respective levels, things will improve.

I expect a righteous cheer for the Gooch and Heater garnering a decent one, no boos.

My first SNOG: not calling numbers, but will say Sharks win (of course). Stellar play from Backs keeps the wild in it, Seto ties it up in the last minute to send it into overtime. Pavelski does what the Big Pavelski does best and wins it in style.
