line mate for ehrhoff

i got nothing against gragnani but pairing him with ehrhoff doesnt make for the strongest defensive minded pairing which could explain ehrhoffs god awful play. so i was thinking what if we targeted a defensive minded pairing for him. im not the biggest fan of sekera, especially after the recent winnipeg game, or leopold, who could easily be replaced by weber. i dont have a specific player in mind to be a replacement but was wondering what yall thought.

lines on d could look something like this:

Myers Regehr
Ehrhoff "XXXX"
Gragnani Leopold/Weber

One we can't afford anyone else, two, Sekera has been our 1st or 2nd best defensemen all season with Regehr, one game doesn't change that. We're fine with where we are for the moment. If you want a defensive guy in there, then hope Ruff plays Weber. Ehrhoff had one of his best games yesterday, there's no need to make a move.

1. Ehrhoff has absolutely not been godawful.

2. Weber could easily replace Leopold? They're nothing alike.

3. Sekera played one bad game. He's been rock solid otherwise.

Get a grip.

I'd like to see Ehrhoff paired with Weber for a game or two. Have Weber play conservative and let Ehrhoff run wild with his speed. Compared to his Vancouver days I can say that he is really playing cautious...which is good, but not really utilizing his talents well.

I stopped at "god awful play". Must be another NHL.com Sabres fan who doesn't actually take part in the viewing of games

And then I read on. My mistake. Leopold easily replaced by Weber? What are you doing?

I think he's saying Ehrhoff is god awful because he doesn't have a billion points already. that's the only thing I can think of.

actually ive watched every game this season and probably know more about the team than you.

i'd like to know what you attribute to ehrhoffs -5 +/-, which is the worst on the team. His defensive game isnt strong and i think a better pairing for him besides another offensive minded dman would lead to less goals scored on the team. Again if he had someone with him that could play the position i think his offensive production would increase to the numbers he was putting up in vancouver. If you look at the top producing defensmen in the league they all have a very defensive minded player paired with them to compensate for their lack in that area.

As for leopold its not like hes doing anything wrong but id rather see weber. Webers physical and we need more of that in the lineup.

Boose makes a point about Ehrhoff in terms of powerplay.

This. I would love to see Weber paired of with the Hoff, but IMO at the moment Grags is improving so can't yank him just yet. Its only a matter of time before an injury hits the D and then see how it p[lays out ..

I second that motion - then reunite Myers with Regehr and let Sekera partner with Leopold.
