Some team should pick him up. Guy has some talent. Wonder what happened to him in CGY...he was decent with Dallas and Toronto.

Can't help but think back to the Phaneuf trade. Sutter

I think he clears at this point.

If he gets waived later in the season, past game 41, I could see him getting picked up. At this piont he hasn't shown much so far to justify spending 2M+ on him for the remander of the season.

Wouldnt be surprised if Ottawa took him. Murray did just say we need a fwd and theres no risk with him.

Yeah and Murray was the one who drafted him to Florida.

A very frustrating player. He will tease you with his skill and abilities, and he'll show some flashes with goals like this:

Then he'll follow it up by disappearing for long stretches, only to come back and score in bunches with multiple 2-goal games.

He was also a bit soft and weak defensively. Not a bad depth player and is pretty much a lock to pot 20 a season when given opportunity, but is far too inconsistent, he'll drive you crazy.

I'd like to see the Avs pick him up too, he's a fast, two-way player and would give another option other than Lindstrom or Kobasew

I dont know where this talk about him being a two-way player has come from, because from what I have seen from his time in Calgary that should not be used as his selling point.

It looks like he hustle's, but really gets nothing accomplished.

I am in the camp that also believes he did not get a fair opportunity under Sutter, and firmly think he has the ability to get 15 goals this season should he get picked up. He was just a bad fit here in Calgary which should have been apparent before acquiring him, however we can address that in another thread down the road...

I wouldn't be adverse to the Habs picking him up, especially if that anchors Darche on the fourth line, where he damn well belongs. Anything is better than Darche on the bloody powerplay, evident by how much ours sucks. We would have to clear some salary but he might be a decent fit.

Just making roster room for Backlunds return or is this making room for something bigger? Columbus did just add a centre and they have Carter returning too...hmmm???

Sarich could help the Jackets.

Agreed.

If he turns it around we have a good player on our hands that we could either dump at the deadline or extend if he really gets back to form.

If he continues to be mediocre, oh well.

No risk, high reward.

He was a top liner in TO. He was a bottom line guy for us. He stopped seeing the Icetime he got in TO.

You should've seen him playing for the Flames. I'll quote a Flames blogger who I think was entirely accurate in saying "I've never seen someone work so hard to accomplish absolutely nothing." He put out tons of effort into getting the puck toward the net, but made terrible decisions (trying to pull it through half the opposing team, make dekes that he had almost no chance of making, etc).

Sounds like a perfect fit for the Sens.

At 3 million, he really isn't effective anymore. Why would someone claim him?

Other Flames news :

Anton Babchuk broke his hand ----> Placed on IR
Brendan Morrison Knee Injury still ----> Place on IR
Called up T.J Brodie from Abbotsford
Called up Paul Byron from Abbotsford
Place Niklas Hagman on Waivers.
Backlund back into lineup.

Its been a busy few days for the flames roster wise. Commence youth movement ( for now! )

It just injuries, if Babchuk/Morrisson weren't injured we would not have called up Brodie/Byron. These were call-ups that had to have been made, its not a youth movement.

Not yet, but it could turn Into one if they play well.

Thats not true at all, We could have chose to not call up Byron at all and could have easily just of called up Wilson instead of Brodie as they fill the same role.

Then there would be no need to put Hagman on waivers either.

I hope he gets claimed and can find redemption with another team.

If i were the habs id take hagman only if he goes on re-entry, so he has a 1.5 cap hit. The habs need depth up front and i think he would be a good player to play along side Andrei Kostitsen and Eller. However the habs need to put Gomez on waivers first
