Put him with decent linemates and he will put up 20-20-40. Thats about right for a 3mill dollar player. IMO he should go back to dallas thats where he had his 27 goal season.

Must mean Backlund is back. Also, the Phaneuf trade continues to look worse and worse.
I don't think the Phaneuf trade was all about value. I think Flames management were sold on Stajan and thought the rest of the pieces could give them more depth than star power. Yes... it blew up in their faces... but who knew J-Bo was going to lose his scoring touch?

I think someone will claim him since he's on his last season. If it doesn't work out he can always be waived again.

New Jersey's depth at left wing is so incredible that we are playing LWers as centers and RWers. Off the top of my head:
Parise, Kovalchuk, Elias, Tedenby, Zubrus, Boulton.

If you only include the players from the trade that remain on the respective teams, the deal looks like

Phaneuf
Aulie

Stajan

yikes

I'm starting to believe that has more to do with the team rather than the players. I find it rather appalling that players such as Jay Bouwmeester and Olli Jokinen - guys who were not just good players, but superstars - seemingly forget what the puck looks like after donning the 'Flaming C.'

Wish Hagman all the best. Hope he gets claimed.

I would have him on the Ducks since our depth in LW is quite bad. Hagman could be a complementary top 6 player on our 2nd line with Koivu and Selšnne. His price just might be too much even if it goes to 1.5.

Would Calgary trade Hagman for Cogliano?

What happend to Kari?

I think Hagman would work just fine with Teemu and Saku but the price is too high when the team is still having Blake (even injured).

Hagman worked his butt off during summer so he should be fit as hell but he just can't find the net.

One of the most frustrating guys to watch. One game he looks like a 50 goal scorer and the next he looks like a ECHL player.

I find it pretty odd that Hagman is the player waived by Flames. The guy has 1+3 in 8 games. He has +3(the best on the team) and is a solid pker. Or atleast used to be.

Hopefully a team that can use him properly picks him up. 40p/season isnt too bad for a 2-3 unit winger who can play solid defense.

At no point in their careers were Oli and JBo ever superstars. Very good players at best. You have a very loose and complimentary definition of the word superstar.

Regarding the hype around JBO before he would have hit the FA market he was a superstar.

When will we get to know if some team claimed Hagman or not?

I wouldnt mind Ottawa claiming him as they could use better wingers and he did well in the division before. Plus his contract is over at the end of the year anyways so there isnt much risk involved.

I hope we do take him actually. Might be a tough sell to Melnyk.

What about Toronto? He fit very well in his stint 2 yrs back and they could definitely use the scoring depth and creativity on their 3rd line. Unless I am missing someone I think he could really round out their top 9, to go along with Connolly, Kessel, Kulemin, Grabo, Lombardi, MacArthur, Lupul, and Bozak.

If flames don't make the playoffs, he will be brought near the trade deadline so the flames can shed some salary and another team can pick him up at half his salary.

Both the Flames and Heat's official twitters. Pat Steinberg (Fan960), Boomer (Fan960), James Murlte (Globe and Mail), Sean Kelso (Flames Media Relations), Vickie Hall (Calgary Herald), Scott Cruickshank (Calgary Herald), Randy Sportak (Calgary Sun) and Ryan Pinder (Abbotsford Heat PBP guy) all have it on their twitters too.

do you need more?

He'll pass, but when on re-entry I think a team will pick him up.

Assuming he is put on re-entry waivers that is. From what I remember its something the Flames have never done with a player before other than Anders Erikson
