Is Carter really the best long-term compliment to Benn? They play pretty similar games.
Beside being a good faceoff guy I've never really understood why Carter is a center. I may be offbase but everything about him screams winger to me; he's a volume shooter, has a shoot first mentality, not great at making those around him better...He's a good talent, but I'm not sure he's the kind of player you want in your organization for the next decade. I want no part of a contract with that term, regardless of who he is.
That seems awfully optimistic considering how Larsen has been utilized.
I have a feeling things will become slightly more drastic with each loss, if it does continue. It has also been confirmed that Larsen will play against Edmonton. I assume Pardy and either Petersen or Barch will sit, depending on how physical of a game they plan on playing.
Frankly I was surprised there seemed to be so much optimism surrounded the Pardy acquisition from the get go. He is a 27 year old dman who has yet to establish himself as a positive NHL contributor. I suspect he and his agent both were floored that Dallas was willing to offer him 2 million a year.
Joe said they saw something in him that thought he had untapped potential. Wouldn't be the first time they've swung and missed. It happens, hopefully if he really sucks they'll have no qualms waiving him with a new owner now.
I want to say it was just a move to make it easier to be cap compliant this season, but if that were true you wouldn't have expected it to be for 2 years.
I'd really know to know if anyone else offered him anything even close to 2 million per.
Anyway, given a real chance, I have zero doubts that Larsen shows himself to be a better NHLer than Pardy. Id love to see him get some time with Souray while Robidas gets pushed down the lineup for awhile. That guy has had a terrible season. Actually id truly like to see something like this
Souray - Daley
Grossman - Larsen
Fistric - Robidas
