11/10/11 - Minnesota Wild @ San Jose Sharks - 9:30 PM CST - FSN & KFAN 100.3

vs.

San Jose Sharks
8-4-1. 17 points, 6th in Western conference

The San Jose Sharks made 3 separate deals with the Wild this offseason most notably obtaining Brent Burns in a blockbuster that is paying dividends for both teams. Also, Martin Havlat was exchanged for Dany Heatley in which both teams were trying to find the right "fit." Both guys should be amped up to play against their former team.

VERSUS

Minnesota Wild
8-3-3, 19 points, 4th in Western Conference

Your Minnesota Wild are on fire with a 5 game win streak coming in. The goaltending has been absolutely outstanding the last 5 games, and Backstrom is coming off a 41-save shutout Tuesday night in Calgy. This marks the return of former Sharks Dany Heatley and Devin Setoguchi who will be playing in their first games against the Sharks after being traded this summer to the Wild.

Who's hot: Guillaume Latendresse, the "Big Bear" who likes to "go where the honey is" has goals in 3 straight. Watch for him tonight.

Since this is a late start, everyone better drink some coffee and enjoy some late-night hockey!

Prediction: none of the new players score against their former teams. Everybody is let down.

From the Sharks thread, my prediction:

Should be a fun game. I'm guessing Havlat gets 1g+1a and Burns is a -2. Heatley probably won't do anything because Mikko Koivu no longer attempts to play hockey, but Setoguchi will score. 4-2 Sanny.

FIXED

We have a winner in the @Burnzie88 Schultzy haircut bet, the winner is You guessed it Burnzie.
http://twitter.com/#!/styleswild/sta...89196085489664

Revitalized with his new haircut Schutlz begins playing well, gets a goal, and doesn't suck defensively.

Burnsie, fueled by winning something for once, also gets a goal, however he gets over zealous in the O-zone and causes a breakaway goal for Heatley.

Setoguchi, back in the NHL rink he called home for several years, gets a nice shot off from the wing, but hits the crossbar due to blurred vision from the tears in his eyes. In an unfortunate turn of events the bounce of the crossbar hits a moustachioed James Sheppard in the press Box, giving him a concussion. Fletcher can be heard laughing from miles away.

Zidlicky, who has not looked as awful since Yeo talked to him, gets a pass/shot blocked during a PP, causing a odd-man rush for the Sharks who score thanks to a Couture shot.

With 2 minutes left in Regulation and the score tied 2-2 the Sharks are buzzing, and a goal is sure to come, tons of scrambling in front of the net, but no result yet. The Wild gain possession, and dump it down, but the Sharks get on the puck quick, and make a rush with the Wild on a line change. The Sharks take advantage of this and Joe Thornton shoots it home, 3-2.

The Wild continue to try with 1:30 left, even pulling the goalie, but they cannot buy a goal it seems. Until that is, with 5 seconds left Heatley appears to get a goal! Upon further review it is decided that he kicked it in, which was weird because it was a shot from the circle, but that 'Heatley Rule' is there for a reason it seems.

[Insert Wild Goalie] plays a solid game but isn't the lights-out we expect from [Insert Wild goalie] recently, surrendering 3 goals on 35 shots.

Prediction:

The Wilderness: 3
Pacific Prodigies: 4 (OT)

Cullen, Setoguchi, Brodziak.
Marleau (2), Pavelski, Burns/Boyle (OTG)

Sharks use the Wild as a stepping-stone to begin gaining momentum. Tonight begins their long-awaited 69 game winning streak, finally culminating in a dominating playoff performance and final *Stanley Cup championship. Imagine that Sanny GDT! Full of sexual innuendo and what-not. It would be glorious.

*Minnesota is accredited for helping Sanny achieve this milestone. The NHL finally realizes our secret alliance, forbidding the Wild and Sharks from all future trades. After heated debate, San Jose and Minnesota decide to succeed from the NHL, creating their own one-team-league; the WildSharks win every year.

IT ALL BEGINS TONIGHT, FOLKS

You know what? I just bet 3000 for the Wild, putting the total vBookie stakes from Sharks ~3500 and Wild ~800 to Wild ~3800 and Sharks ~3500.

Since cracking 1k vcash again (I lost everything on that damn Ottawa SO loss...) I haven't bet because I'm convinced this win streak has to end some time.

They give you 50 if you're sitting at 0 at a certain time of day (or the week maybe?).

Don't know, actually. Don't really care, either. I rather bet here than for real money.

what is wrong with you people. predicting that we are going to lose is basically treason and all of you should have you heads chopped off. trying to be impartial is what real writers should do.

have some damn pride. this is the most important game of the entire season.

wild win 5 to 3

Scariest part of this game? The Wild are ahead of the Sharks in the standings.

I see a low scoring game, 2-2 into OT kind of.

Backs will continue to shine tonight as the Wild will be grossly outshot.

PS - I voted Josie. Minny is a girl's name, and so it Josie.
