Kris Russell to St. Louis for prospect Nikita Nikitin

Bob McKenzie tweets:
Quote:
TSNBobMcKenzie: Not confirmed yet but hearing CBJ may have completed a trade tonight. Details to follow.
Aaron Portzline confirms:
Quote:
#CBJ GM Scott Howson: "No trade to announce right now."
Emphasis is mine, not Porty's.

MOD EDIT: Twitter post by Nick Kypreos confirms: Russell for #Blues prospect Nikita Nikitin.

I've heard STL has had interest in Kris Russell from CBJ so now that STL-TOR is over, let's see. Hearing Tyutin's name as a possibility too.

John Buccigross chimes in:
Quote:
@Buccigross: Many a panicked GM have overpaid for a goalie. Let's see if the Blue Jackets to that...
Portzline adds:
Quote:
@Aportzline Told something could be coming tonight. Not certain, but could be. Stay tuned.
Keep in mind Johansen was a healthy scratch tonight. Discuss.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Howson eat the seed corn. I'm sure he isn't attached to our #1 pick either. After all, he won't be the one using it.

EDIT:

If it's Tyutin, I want a 1st for that mustache

Goalies aside, who are some good shutdown defensemen the Blues have?

Also, if it's the Blues, wouldn't be too surprised if Umberger gets involved in the talks.

If its the Blues, he has to be a Hitch-type guy....

Tyutin would fit that, so would Umberger, Methot, Possibly Dorsett (a bit redundant if Bass is staying up and Boll is back)

I swear if Howson trades Johansen or our 1st round pick in a wild attempt to save this season, I'm done with this team.

Several folks around the league tonight hinting that D Kris Russell is part of the trade. Not confirmed, but lots throwing his name out.

If this is Hitch's trade...it's Umberger. Goodbye RJ.

Possibly Vermette, would make sense with the need to move a center....

Possibly a multiple package involving Vermette or Umberger and Tyutin or Russell?

Only Howson would trade for a goalie just as bad as Mason.

This is exciting.

Honestly, you guys are just being bummers. I applaud the 2011-2012 Jackets. Last year we sucked in that standard, boring cliche Jackets kind of way. But this year we fans have witnessed an implosion. Coaches getting fired, GM's probably too, weird AHL players physically grabbing teammates post-fight, etc. 30-40 odd-man rushes against per game. This has been straight out of the WWE.

Kudos for sucking so hard that it's become entertaining for its' own sake, in a TMZ kind of way.

I don't know if I could stand Umberger in a bluenote after the debacle here last season.

It is a measure of this franchise's incompetence that they are still allowing Scott Howson to pull off trades of any kind. But what does track record matter...
