Very sad news. This especially hits home here in Windsor after the Mickey Renaud tragedy a few years back. Looks like Steel was only 18.

Any word on the cause of death? One of the articles mention that "Patrick Steel, a rookie with the Canmore Eagles, died from unexplained causes, the league said Thursday in a statement" and that the RCMP are investigating, although the death is not considered suspicious.

I don't know much about the AJHL. Is this a Junior B league? Or a feeder league to the WHL?

The AJHL is one of the strongest junior A leagues in Canada.
