Recalled : Corey Tropp (Re-Assigned, 11/11/11)

http://sabres.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=598780

Quote:
Buffalo Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier announced today that forward Corey Tropp has been recalled from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League.

Tropp (6’0”, 195 lbs., 7/25/89) will join the Sabres on his first career recall. He spent the 2010-11 season in Portland, posting 40 points (10+30) in his first professional season. In 10 games with Rochester this season, Tropp has seven points (4+3), tying for the Americans’ lead in goals.

Tropp was selected by the Sabres in the third round (89th overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft
I should have bet on this. No way was it going to be Kassian or Foligno.

He deserves it. Had a great pre-season and is playing well in Rochester. Glad seeing him up.

Makes sense.

Should be a relatively good fit.

Very happy for Corey, especially after the whole suspension issue at MSU, that really straightened him out.

I think this show how far away Jochen is too; maybe back by Christmas if he had a bad enough set back?

I don't know. I get the feeling that in this particular situation, no news is actually bad news. I don't expect to see Hecht back in a game in a long time unfortunately.

All I read says that he has been great so far, so this is no shock and seems deserved.

He'll probably get McCormick minutes right? No more than 10 minutes?

I thought we might go with 7 defenseman, but not really surprised. Should be fine as a bottom six forward with some skill.

So,
Vanek - Adam - Pominville
Leino - Roy - Stafford
Gerbe - Gaustad - Tropp
McCormick - Ellis - Boyes

??

Or should Boyes take Kaleta's spot on the GGK line and Tropp slide in on the 4th line?

Does this say anything about Gragnani and how he is viewed by Ruff? Or does he just want to dress 12F?

I'd guess he doesn't want to play Grags at forward for 4 games. And if he plays well and the team starts winning perhaps he can take Ellis' place when Kaleta gets back?

i have a feeling tropp is going to grow into one of our patented underdog call ups that never makes it back down to the minors. this kid has all the tools to be an asset in the NHL. he raised his game when he had a shot in the preseason, and has continued to produce at the AHL level. good for him, maybe he can hook ip with adam and ennis at some point and we can have a kid line again.

Good. He deserves it. I'd hate to see Grags or Weber at forward or just rolling 7 D pairings.

What's to say Grag's doesn't come back on D and Weber goes back in the press box? I ain't sayin', I'm just sayin'

Looking forward to seeing what he can do in the bigs. Saw him at the rookie camp and in Rochester. He can play. He also has a bit of an edge to him. I like it.

Great call-up, i always liked Tropp and think he is pretty underrated around here (or at least was until the preseason). I don't think he'll stick around full-time yet but he should be a great bottom-liner who also has a shot at a spot in our top-six for us in the future !
