Fore, it's comparing East vs East, or East vs West, since I watch mostly the Rangers

From that standpoints, it's east AINEC

I get bored watching the west

The only western teams i feel like i need to tune in and watch are Chicago and Edmonton. Even Detroit seems kind of bland now. Dallas has been fun though, may need to add them to my list.

How many people are actually going to side against the conference their team plays in? Without even looking at the results, I'm sure there are more votes for the East than the West, simply because there are more fans of Eastern teams on these boards.

Or you could simply look at the people posting and notice all that voted for East have their favorite teams in the East.

I would have been said west in about for last years, but now i think in this year east is more exciting conference. At least right now.
Why?
-East is changed more than west over the last season
-Florida, Toronto, Ottawa.. They are all surprises, but which will be a playoff team?
-Boston's problems
-Rangers. Expensive team, but do they make the playoffs?
-Winnipeg.. Of course.

West isn't so exciting because teams are more same as last year than east. There are interesting teams like Dallas and Edmonton but not so many than east.

East, more of the big names (Crosby, Oveckin, Malkin, Stamkos), and the league's soon to be big names play in the East (Girioux, Seguin, Karlsson, Skinner).

East, more offensive stars and because West is more known for tighter D and better D-man

The East has more offensive star power but almost all the great defensemen are in the west.

For your consideration, the defensemen who played in the Olympic gold medal game:

Duncan Keith (W)
Shea Weber (W)
Brent Seabrook (W)
Drew Doughty (W)
Chris Pronger (E)
Dan Boyle (W)
Scott Niedermayer (W)
Erik Johnson (W)
Jack Johnson (W)
Mike Komisarek (E)
Paul Martin (E)
Brooks Orpik (E)
Brian Rafalski (W)
Ryan Suter (W)

Heh, after taking that into consideration it seems like Edmonton is a very East-like team and Boston is a very West-like team.

The conference that doesn't have Philly and Tampa

It's probably the East that is more exciting. They've got more of the superstars at the moment. I hope Colorado and Edmonton develop as expected so we can have some epic battles.

great defensemen don't make up for an exciting game

10 of current top 15 teams in goals for are eastern teams. 7 of bottom 10 are western teams.

The West is the more exciting conference for me, tighter defense makes for an exciting game for me (as opposed to the high-scoring East)

I didn't say that. I was trying to point out a distinction between the conferences so people could objectively decide which conference they may prefer.

The west is more competitive no doubt. Has been for a while but I'd say the east is more exciting.
