Tampa Bay-Nashville

To Nashville:
Richard Panik
Mathieu Garon
2012 1st or 2nd

To Tampa:
Ryan Ellis
Anders Lindback

Reasoning: Tampa gets much needed prospect depth at D and a decent backup and potential starter in Lindback. Nashville gets a solid scoring prospect who has shown he can dominate if motivated, a decent backup to replace Lindback for this season and next to give Engren and Smith more time to develop as well as a top-30/60 pick to makeup for the obvious value gap if the pick was left out.

Before people start asking why I added Garon it's for realistic purposes. If Tampa didn't send a goalie back in this trade they would have a log jam in net with the NHL club.

Thoughts?

I don't know much about Panik, but unless he is a really good prospect, I doubt he is going to be a piece in a package for Lindback and Ellis.

Tampa would probably need to stick Connolly in the deal to make this work.

Panik is our 4th best prospect behind, Connolly, Ashton and Tokarski.

Connolly would be a deal breaker IMO. We can't afford to weaken our NHL roster like that, he gives us versatility and means when Downie/Malone are injured we still have a decent top 6.

preds probably dont move Ellis until Weber and Suter are locked up long term, and maybe even not then.

the only thing that might possibly get Ellis now would be a top 6 forward, not a prospect. Preds are in a "win now" window

Whether you look at HFs ratings (wouldnt recommend it) where Panik is our 2nd best behind Connolly, or at BoltProspects where he is 4th behind Connolly, Ashton and Tokarski. Namestnikov is always ranked behind Panik.

Never been able to find where those rumors came from, as Boucher and Yzerman have said hes been one of the hardest working players no matter where he's been.

Skill wise he might have more talent than any player in our prospect crop, on top of very good size and speed.

I think we should just wait and draft our own defensemen. With Gudas and Barbeiro continuing to develop quicker than expected in the minors, I think we can afford to wait. And apparently this upcoming draft is suppose to be very PMD deep.

No from Nashville. Ellis and Lindback may be our two most valuable trading chips at the moment. We can't afford to trade them for a prospect.

I'd love to have Ellis on the lightning, he's underrated and has incredible hockey sense.

A better version of MAB, and he's been great on the lightning so far.

no way nashville does this deal. it would take a lot more to get ellis

So Hockey Prospectus ranks Ellis as the #49 prospect. Panik is the #88 prospect. Garon has no value, I understand he HAD to be in the deal though. Lindback, a 23 year old who posted a 2.6 GAA and .915 Save % last year who has solid starter upside is better than a late first pick.

So to wrap this up Ellis > Panik and Lindback > Garon + 1st... I don't see why Nashville does this and being a Boston fan I'd rather not see the Lightning get a solid #1 goalie for the future. They almost beat us with Roloson playing kinda poorly (sub .900 save % vs us).

Easy no, Were not trading Ellis who has put up better numbers than that forward on D.
