Wait, how was it possible that Fredheim was playing for Houston without a contract since we just signed him? Or was he on a minor-league-only contract, thus we had to sign him to an NHL one? If that even makes any sense.

Don't know if anyone touched on this already but Lats concussion was probably due to when he got run into the boards in the Calgary game, as well as the sharks game.
The hit in the Sharks game was rather minor to me but considering he already had something from last game, it took pretty much not a big hit to result in a concussion.
Just curious if you guys have heard any news on when Lats will be back?
I haven't seen anything new, which is a bad sign considering we've had updates on a couple other injured players. It doesn't sound like he's skating or working out yet.
At what point do the Wild have to cut their losses with Gui? He's an incredible player when healthy, and probably my favorite player on this roster to watch... but he just can't stay healthy...

Perhaps but this concussion has nothing to do with his previous injury problems. His lower body injuries were due in part to his weight problems along with many surgeries. Even so, it should be interesting to see what will be done with him after or during this season. We talk about the possibility of Zanon or Brodziak being moved at the deadline but there's also the possibility of Lats or Harding being moved as well depending on the team's situation at that point. There's no guarantee Harding will want to sign again and remain as the back-up. If I were Fletcher I'd get going on re-signing Harding ASAP. Do it before the deadline so we don't have to deal with the possibility of trading him.
Lats will stick around to the end of the season. He's an RFA. He can be moved whenever.
Even if Lats has injury problems, I can see Fletcher hanging on to him until after the UFA period. If Fletcher signs a top-6 UFA winger, he might let Lats go or trade him. If not, Lats will probably be back.

Yup. There are some health issues he's had that it's totally fair to blame on him, his conditioning, etc. But concussions are so unpredictable and generally not something a player can really avoid, that I don't think the concussion reflects on his reliability as a player.
Also, it's a special trait of Minnesota sports fans that we can be in 1st in the league a quarter of the way into the season and still talking about who we're gonna sell at the deadline.
This concussion especially isn't something you can pin on his "injury history." It's from a flagrantly illegal hit (boarding). Had Calgary's player adhered to the league rules, Lats would be fine.

Both Z and Z back to their previous team in Nashville for Suter.
They'd be doing us a favor taking both Zs. Right now, I want to see us flip them for picks because we seriously have no chance at getting Weber or Suter.
I hope he can start working with the team again soon. Damn I miss this guy. Hes one of our hardest working players and a HUGE part of our offensive production.
