Malkin for Nash

It was suggested in the GDT, but it wasn't on topic. So here it is.

How this proposal is ridiculous, let us mock the ways...

Malkin makes 8.7 mil per. Nash makes 7.8 mil per.

Nash has scored more than 69 points exactly once, four years ago.

Malkin has been on pace for less than 85 points exactly once, last year.

Nash has 4 games of playoff experience, and he scored 3 points.

Malkin is a Conn Smythe winner, and has 73 points in 62 playoff games.

I don't get it? Stupid trade ideas are constantly thrown around, why is there a thread created by someone with the sole purpose to simply mock whoever made it?

This one's been thrown around way too often for how absurd it is.

Let's discuss it and end it.

Do not mock other users, please. (that goes out to everyone.. not the OP) Go on with the proposal but I am not giving any warnings outside of this one.

Please stay on-topic.

No worries, I'd never mock a Pens fan.

But this proposal is so beyond all logic that it just needs to be put to sleep once and for all.

One time Crosby and Nash tore it up for Hockey Canada. Who cares about some rusky? Trade him to no mans land and bring in a dream, Canadian, winger for Crosby. That way Sid can score a bunch of points in the regular season and be the best fantasy player of the era.

makes sense. Pens'll finally get a winger for Crosby. that's really the only reason they don't win the Cup every year.

This idea is 100% as dumb and short-sighted as it was every other time it's been suggested. Doesn't reflect well on knowledge of CBJ fans if they take it seriously. Although at least last year's version had Voracek in the equation I believe. Lets's start a "Hemsky for Malkin" thread too!

The only way I'd consider it is if Columbus added a few picks, including their first this year and next year. Yakupov still <<< Geno.

Even if they added a ******** of other players and picks, it'd be doubtful that Shero would do it, mainly because Geno is a top-5 player in the world.

There are no picks in the upcoming draft that would make this a logical thing to do. Just like people said in the past "oh, add Filatov and it's OK." Filatov has done a great job of making my case that he is useless. He can't even break the Top 9 of the Senators this year.

Which is baffling because he was one of the more talented players I saw in his draft year. I personally thought he was the best player in that class.

It's not that surprising in some ways. He's a highly skilled but very one dimensional player, who is not mentally tough (and probably not a hard worker based on what I've seen). He's not able to do the things necessary to elevate his all-around game apparently. These days the kid you draft better have not only awesome skills but big work ethic. For someone like Geno, if a lottery pick is part of the price, we better see Bob McKenzie drooling all over himself with "sure bet" language coming out of his mouth before we pull the trigger. There is no one like that this year AFAIK.

Bottom line, there are about 5 players in the NHL it would be worth considering a trade for and Rick Nash isn't one of them. I wouldn't even consider him one of the Top 10 options at this point. He seems less able to elevate his game now than he used to be.

So the band would consist of Crosby, Staal, Nash and Park?

Again, this is when I tend to ignore "production"

THIS Malkin, the one we've currently been seeing (for the most part) is worth every penny, even if he's not getting 2 points per game.

For the upside alone, he's worth every penny. If he rounds about to 85 points a year, yes, he's a tad overpaid. But the potential of having that '09 guy lurking just beneath the surface is worth the extra dough.

*edit*

And I'm not even talking about when he has to go up against everyone's second pairing when he who shall not be named comes back.

Jim: Nash would be Crosby's LW in the horrible world where such a trade actually takes place. He's not a C.

Nash - Crosby - Neal is a pretty neat line.
