Flyers Draft Position

The Flyers are not making the playoffs this season or next. They may go on a streak and win some games in a row, but this team is seriously flawed and cannot be corrected due to cap constraints and Hextall's (wise) philosophy vis a vis our most promising prospects.

Out of curiousity, what do you think our draft position is and who finishes below us?

I'll go first. I think we draft between 4 and 6.

The teams that finish worse than use are:
1. Toronto
2. Carolina
3. NJ
4. Arizona

That said, the Flyers can finish worse than all of those 4 teams except Toronto.

with the lottery this year its hard to predict where we will draft but teams witha worst record than us this year would be TML for sure also it sounds like the Hurricanes are gonna tank and trade some guys. Other teams are right in that gray area with us. CBJ could pick it up, calgary too, Hurricanes are not great but have a talented roster.

6 or 7 I think. Voted 4-6

We'll probably go on some meaningless winning streaks against the toughest teams in the league, and then lose to New Jersey and Phoenix right when our hopes are up. Flyers hockey!!!

Judging by what I've seen so far I'm pretty confident this isn't a playoff team. However, after some of the current D-men crop get hurt, traded, released or whatever should happen I feel the defensemen in the minors will be better suited to run Hakstols system.
Hence the Flyers will be better come spring.

Still off what I see now and factoring in expected contributors injured I voted 4-6.

I voted 7-9.

I've calmed down over the last 36 hours. I am trying to remember that sometimes it does take time for a team to get used to a new coach and vice versa. Right now they are playing 1-3 bad, but I think they will improve. I mean, some of the guys that aren't scoring WILL start to score. They aren't going to NOT score all season. That will lead to some wins.

Hopefully the game of musical defensemen Hakstol is playing calms down as he sees more. If he does keep juggling them all year, we are going to run over on most nights and should probably switch to a balls to the wall offensive system and hope to win 5-4.

Couturier and Bellemare returning will help us keep pucks out of the net. We were tough to score on before their injuries and now we are allowing 4 per game. They are probably our best defensemen and they play center. Sad, but true.

This all said, if Giroux gets injured we will finish with a bottom 5 record.

I forgot that the first three picks are determined by the lottery this season.

I say 4-6 because you never know with the lottery but I do think the Flyers could very well be the 2nd worst team in the league behind Toronto. The defense is that bad. They will go on a trading spree if that's the case but any rookie they bring up will struggle as well no matter how talented just learning to play at the NHL level.

A terrible season is going to be hard to watch, but in the long run getting a top 6 prospect in this draft will do more for this franchise than a 1st round playoff ouster.

Voracek and Simmonds will have to start scoring eventually, then we'll see if the offense can make up for the horrible defense.

Who knows man!? It's too early for this.

Like Striiker said, soon Voracek and Simmonds will start scoring (even if it's just a 60pt pace) and Couturier will be back...and eventually Manning won't be in there. Ma$e will start making some saves and we'll win games.

It truly wouldn't shock me if we squeezed into the playoffs as an 8-seed, nor would it shock me if we got a top-5 pick. It all depends when all those things above start happening, and if they happen together.

Way too early but I still think it will be mid-first round. 13-23 probably.

I think they end up somewhere in the 6-12 range going into the lottery.

There is no chance in hell they finish that high in the standings to draft 23, or 22, or 21, or 20, or 19, or 18.

This is early to attempt to figure out our draft spot for 16.
It's good that our coach and gm are patient. Hackstol is gonna need to figure out what system and whom on what line and pairing.
Maze is not the guy that finished the season last year. Since whatever family incident and likely some form of injury that we are not being told about, is likely why he is off.
And We expect JV to score in bunches when he finally starts to score.
We are gonna pick up al lot more W's. I am going to guess we will be picking in the teens.

We finished above .500 last season and still drafted 7th.

With the amount of parity in the league, you have to be very good to not draft top 10. We are not very good.

I doesn't matter which pick they get in the draft....

Whomever it is, that player will join the rest of their most recent draft picks......in the minors.

Can't imagine the Flyers not fighting for a playoff spot (not necessarily making it though) once that top line gets going...

Are the Flyers really that bad? hard to believe that with two of the best forwards in the league and one of the most underrated goalies.

Our defense has been probably the worst in the NHL this year. Also, the fact we are barely getting shots on net lately and almost no scoring of any kind (we've barely had any games where we've scored more than 2 goals a game) outside of Giroux is really telling of how bad we play as a team and how bad of backend we have.
