Euro Hockey Time

Superleague started yesterday weeeeeeeeeeee! The Superleague is in the process of retooling their site so I don't have all the scores up and running right this instant. SM-Liiga starts Saturday. War Karri Akkanen getting 200 PIMs in Finland's highest league.

Here are the Lightning's European prospects with their current teams (if known):

Czech Republic
Marek Posmyk, HC Plzen(CZE-XL)

Ivan Rachunek, ??? (Was Zlin, CZE-XL)

Finland
Karri Akkanen, Ilves Tampere(FIN-SML)
Raimonds Dainilics, Assat JrA (FIN-JRA)
Erikki Rajamaki, Ilves Tampere(FIN-SML)

Germany
Sascha Goc, Adler Mannheim(GER-DEL)

Russia
Dimitri Bezrukov, Neftekhimik Nitzenkhamsk(RUS-SL)
Anton But, Yaroslavl Lokomotiv(RUS-SL)
Alexei Glukhov, Khimik Voskresensk(RUS-SL)
Dimitri Kazionov, Lada Togliatti(RUS-SL)
Evgeny Konstantinov, Severstal Cherepovets(RUS-SL)
Vasily Koshechkin, Lada Togilatti(RUS-SL)
Alexander Polushin, CSKA(RUS-SL)
Pavel Sedov, Khimik Voskresensk(RUS-SL)
Albert Vishnyakov, Ak-Bars Kazan (RUS-SL)

Ilja Solarev, ??? (No Full Gig Last Season)
Vitali Smolianinov, ??? (Was Vorenzh, RUS-UL)
In Smolianinov's case, probably still is Vorenzh, just need to confirm it, and probably spelling it correctly would be cool too

Sweden
Johan Hagglund, Hammarby(SWE-ALS)
Frederik Norrena, Linkoping(SWE-ELT)

A lot of Russians. Not a lot of Finns. Definitely not enough Swedes. Still too many Czechs

I'll be throwing the super secret HF links page for Europe together in the next few days (on a new server!)... then once camp gets parsed out add in the North Americans and then the reporting fun can begin. I reiterate: weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Still too many Czechs

-Pete Choquette
You call, 2 Czechs too many? Granted the 2 we have aren't the best, still against them for the teams they play for and where they were born? Some of the best players in the world come from that little country.

I wonder where this team would be if not for a certain Czech from last season Vaclav Prospal? My guess, is we would of been sitting out of the playoffs yet again. So a Czech helped take us to the playoffs, and I'm not about to trash a Czech when they helped take us that far!

Too many Russians, thanks to the Dudley era.

I just don't understand how you can write an unbiased report on prospects when you have an overwhelmingly unhealthy bias against Czech players? I thought being a good reporter meant walking in neutral and letting results bring you the writing.

Chill out, Apollo. It's kinda an inside joke with Pete and posters who are familiar with Pete's writing. Hence, the reason Pete added the big grin emoticon after the comment.

Pete's not a Czech bigot... just vocal about some of the personalities of certain Czech players, which you have to admit seems to standout in world of hockey.

I'm still working on Hrdel's name, I don't have time for the Latvian's just yet.

You are correct sir. It starts 9/12. When posting at 4:06am, what day 9/12 is tends to be difficult to point out.

I forgot Norrena on the list.

Yes. Truth is I'd draft a blind one legged chimpanzee if I thought he could help my team win a Stanley Cup, even regardless of if it was a Czech blind one legged chimpanzee

Even if the Czech blind one legged chimp was a headcase?

Alrighty, let the fun commence:

9/5-
Mannheim 2
Kassel 1

Goc no scoring.

9/7-
Krefeld 3
Mannheim 1

Goc 2 PIMs.

9/10-
Amur 2
Niznekhamsk 1

Bezrukov no scoring.

CSKA 5
Ak Bars 0

Polushin 1 goal. Vishnyakov no scoring.

Cherepovets 3
Novokunetsk 0

Konstantinov DNP.

Yaroslavl 3
Dynamo 1

But 1 assist.

9/11-

Omsk 3
Khimik 1

Glukhov/Sedov no scoring.

Lada 3
Ufa 2 OT

Kazionov 1 goal. My pick for breakout Lightning Euro of the year. RSL site doesn't say who was in net.

Frankfurt 5
Mannheim 0

Goc no scoring.

9/12-
Mannheim at Kolner, Ilves at Taparra, Ak Bars at Amur, Magnitogorsk at Yaroslavl, Novosibirsk at Cherepovets, Plzen at Pardubice

9/13-
SaiPa at Ilves

9/14-
Trinec at Plzen

9/15-
Omsk at Ak Bars, Cherepovets at Dynamo, Yaroslavl at Lada, CSKA at Novokunetsk, Khimik at Niznekhamsk

Swedish hockey starts 9/17 for Hammarby and I don't see a schedule on Linkoping's site (which is very scaled back this season).

Spreadsheet fun begins tomorrow I guess.

Raimonds Danilics will be playing junior for Assat in Finland according to one of the good folks on the Finland board. Their first game is 9/13.

Pavel Sedov and Alexei Glukhov were farmed by Khimik to start the season. Sedov isn't even listed on their basic roster for the season, although he's still on their home page.

Karri Akkanen will probably be splitting time between Ilves Jr. A and Ilves SM-Liiga team again this season. He isn't listed on their big roster on the SM-Liiga website to start the year but is on their Jr. A roster. Ilves Jr. A team starts tomorrow. Ilves is losing their opener 2-1 at the end of 2 periods... Rajamaki with 2PIMs so far.

Dainilics to Assat Jr. A confirmed.

9/12-

Taparra-3
Ilves-1

Rajamaki 2PIMs. Akkanen to farm.

Plzen-3
Pardubice-1

Posmyk DNP.

Point of order: No Mannheim game today. EuroHockey.net's schedule was incorrect.

Amur-2
Ak Bars-2

Vishnyakov no scoring.

Niznekhamsk-4
CSKA-1

No scoring Bezrukov or Polushin.

Novosibirsk-2
Cherepovets-0

Konstantinov DNP.

Yaroslavl-7
Magnitogorsk-2

But 1G 1A 2PIMs. Have I mentioned he's good?

Tomorrow: Akkanen, Dainilics, Rajamaki.

Are they ever going to get him in or what? Thought he went over there to play? He might as well sit in our press-box. At least then he'd be getting some practice with Reeser.

It's not Euro, but the Q season has started.

Rimouski won two nights ago 4-3. Crosby with the hatter, Hrdel with 0+0, 3 shots.

O'Brien and Boutin in TB while their teams played each other in the Q opener Thur.

Personal gut feeling: Konstantinov will only play 15-20 games this season for Cherepovets.

9/13-

LukkoA-5
IlvesA-4

Akkanen no scoring. Finished -2 on the game. Special thanks to Lukko who also have an Akkanen on their team which confused the bejesus out of me.

TaparraA-5
AssatA-1

Dainilics DNP.

Ilves-5
SaiPa-3

Rajamaki no scoring. +2 through 2 games.

HPK 2-0 winning by a combined total of 12-2 in their first couple of games. Guess they don't miss Miettinen, Santala, and Somervuori after all.

Tomorrow: Posmyk, Akkanen, Dainilics.

Two questions:
1. How many games in a season for this league?

and (totally unrelated)

2. Do you want this thread stickied?

They had some trouble with their site the past week, so you probably saw a temporary site.

So Linkoping starts 9/24? Sounds about right. Hopefully swehockey.se relaunches their online section soon.

There are 50 regular season games in a season for a Superleague team. I'd expect Cherepovets to make the playoffs so there will be a few more. 15-20 games may be generous for Evgeny. Their starter Viktor Chistov has been around their organization a long time and they trust him and they also have Jamie Ram on their roster who was a Ranger$ prospect once upon a time and has started in the AHL, SM-Liiga, and Elitserian.

Sticky it if you want to.
