Figured someone was going to start it anyway. Obviously it was a dirty hit made by a dirty player, but I was even more disappointed with the response. It seemed like the Sabres thought it was good enough to just push Lucic and that was it.
Didn't seem like the punishment fit the crime

I saw that briefly, looks like a good hit, miller was way out of the crease so fair game. but still sabs should have jump on that lucic clown...from habfan

Good chance it will be what we look back as the play that got Miller out of his slump.

Goaltenders are not fair game outside the crease. The NHL rules specifically state this.

There were no "enforcers" on the ice for Buffalo.. or at least nobody that would have lasted a punch or two against Lucic. Gaustad was there, but he would have been 2nd, 3rd, or 5th man in at that point.

Looch knows you can't do that, it was definitely in the heat of passion, but not by any means "dirty dirty". Not for nothing, Miller's two handed swipe would have caused more damager had it connected to Looch's legs.

Hey, seems to have worked out for Boston. They've owned us since.

Miller should've just Hasek'd him and we wouldn't be having this discussion.

In similar situations Hasek just went down to the ice and got both the puck and the player, ******* it.

As we discussed as nausea over the summer.....grit with talent. Grit with size. We have talent but a bunch of wussies. They should've caused a riot. We were up, it was early in the game, we could've handled a goal against at that point. Luici should've had 3 guys drop their gloves and go after him, not one of our guys dropped, nor did anything like a face wash.....wusses.

This team is terrified of Lucic. Plain and simple.

At that point in the game it made the most sense not to do more.

McCormick would give Lucic a run for his money, but since he's a little banged up from his last fight I doubt Lucic was worried about any kind of reprocussions entering this game. So, he just went ahead and ran the **** out of the Sabre's franchise goal-tender and nothing substantial happened to him. Goose can throw down but I think Lucic is too much for him.

This is what team toughness does for a team, it tilted the testoron levels in the Bruins favor. Miller responded well and was great in the first period.

I think Cody will beat the crap out of Lucic at some point in the season. But if they want to win this game, they have to play FASTER then the Bruins. And smarter.

As for the call I think it was correct. Lucic made sure his elbow was down, if it went up even slightly he would have got a major or a double minor.

Totally disagree. And what happened in the second, more liberties from the Bruins bc we didn't stand up.

Totally disagree, we needed to stand up fir Miller. Next shift.

This is not the 70s. Players can not do enough to make it not worth players while to take liberties. All that would have come of it would be a 4 on 4.

I suspect Lucic gets a call from the league. And if Miller is concussed, he'll get a couple games.

Smart play by Lucic. It turned the game.

I wish that the Sabres had players with some balls on their team that would make game changing plays like that.

Frankly, I'd rather not stoop to dirt like that. If the refs did their job and ejected him this could have been a different game.

I am thoroughly disgusted with Paul Gaustad. He was on the ice and did nothing at all when this happened.

Reminds me of the time Michael Peca got the crap beat out of him years ago in Washington and the Sabres watched their Captain get dismantled and did nothing about it.

Well, the refs did nothing so they HAD TO do something.

They obviously shrank.

There are two conversations though
1. Replace Miller with dman chasing a puck is the hit legal?
2. Goalies are "defenseless" and need to protected.

Some might argue Lucic finishing his check is legal.
Others argue that regardless of that goalies always need to be protected.

That said I agree that someone on the sabres needs to step up to Boston and Lucic because they will be physically dominated in playoffs which is the bruins game.
