Odds of making the playoffs?

We're more than a fifth of the way through the season. After seeing what you've seen, where do you peg the sens odds of making the playoffs this year.

If I were a betting man, I would say that there is between a 1% and 99% chance that we will make it.

20-30%. We're too inconsistent and unpredictable to be a safe bet to even contend for the 8th spot. If we lose guys like Karlsson/Michalek/Anderson/Alfie for long portions of time or if guys like Gonchar or Kuba go back to playing like last season we won't even come close. Basically we need everything to go right to make the playoffs.

Accoring to this great site someone posted last year, 12.7% currently. Personally I'd say 0%.

shouldn't even be thinking playoffs during a rebuild. Especially the first year of one.

Oh so we should just stop playing well, because we're overachieving and THAT IS NOT OK!!!

0-10 for SURE.

However, I'm not so sure about my last place in the East prediction anymore. It's tough to tell how good we are, because we've been awfully streaky.

EDIT: SportsClubStats has us at 12.7% now, but they also give each team a 50% chance of winning every game. At this point, I'd say we're around 9%.

0%, our goaltending has been crap and our defense is filled with over the hill vets and young guys getting a feel for the game at the NHL level. We are one spezza/karlsson long term injury away from being dead last in the league.

It's not inconceivable the way we are playing now, but I expect injuries to one of our key players (i.e. Spezza, Karlsson, Gonchar, Michalek). I voted for 10-20

Exactly the mentality we want our young players to possess.

I say 10%. We have been inconsistent, but if we have strange win streaks we could make it. I don't think so, but there is a small chance!

Yep.

The more we lose, the better it is for their development.

Right?

Went 10-20%. It's really inconsequential though, I think the team should try to make the playoffs and try to win every game, but ultimately development is the most important thing for this season, not the actual final standings.

going into the final stretch, there is usually 3 - 4 teams fighting for the final playoff spot. I can see the Sens being one of those teams. I said 30 - 40. Ask this same poll after the upcoming western swing and people's answers might change though.

Trade Spezza I voted 0-10%. I do not think this team is clearly better than any team in the East. I think Winnipeg and Florida are close to being on our level. That is two teams, we need to beat out 7 to make the playoffs, I don't see that happening unless most of those teams lose key players while the Sens stay healthy.

I said it at the beginning of the season that there is a real chance of this team making the playoffs. I wont be disappointed if they don't, but I also feel they could surprise.
