I'm new to this board so I'm just jumping in the conversation, but if Granlund isn't able to step in next year and supply the Wild with some point production it's going to be pretty heartbreaking for MN fans. We're being told that we have some young prospects that are heavy with talent.
When is the last time the Wild drafted a top line player that turned out to be productive? I know PMB, Koivu, and Gabby all were good to great and Burns was a good find but besides that we've missed on our guys like AJ Theilen, Sheppard, Gillis, and potentially the Dman that injured his knee(can't think of his name right now).
We need a few of these guys like Granlund to be big time producers. Hopefully the new prospects like Zucker, Philips, and Lucia can pan out in the near future because we're about due I would think.

I think he will, he's too offensively gifted not to. Personally, I think that a rookie season of 15g + 40a would be a good first step.

Welcome! I've been told to just stay patient. Apparently there's only a 2-week window Granlund can sign in May, so until then, no worries.

You're right on, it was 2003 with Brent Burns. A solid 9-year drought.

That's what we're hoping for...so much karma has to come back our way.
MG 0+1 and a whopping 8 shots on goal in a 4-1 win against Ässät. Now has 20+31=51 points in 45 GP. Has had only one goal in the last ten games though.

And it was an empty netter too. But it seems like he's gaining his confidence back.

It's been really great to see that he is finally starting to get out of the slump (WC2012) but he still hasn't been the same old Granlund. He still makes stupid decisions more than normal and he hasn't been as sharp on scoring chances. It's always possible that he has training hard for the playoffs and is "taking it easy" to recover since HIFK has already secured a spot and can probably beat anyone so let's hope he does some magic once the real games start.
Fevers are usually due to the body fighting off some type of virus.
It could also be a rather strong winter flu. We don't know. But I think that the more he rests, the better it is for him. He can save his body for the playoffs and World Champs.

That is a definite possibility, considering that there is quite a strong flu epidemic going on in Finland right now.
Granlund will miss his fourth straight game tonight with "flu-like symptoms". IFK has five games left in the regular season and the SM-liiga playoffs will start on March 22nd.

Is "flu-like syptoms" code for concussion? I sure hope not.

I think it really just is a flu. Just today one of Granlund's teammates, Janne Pesonen talked in an interview how he got the flu four weeks ago and has had symptoms of it the past weeks, he has attended a few practices but always the flu-symptoms have come back. I wouldn't be surprised if Granlund had the same problem. Or they can give Granlund some time to recover fully from it, which would be good since he is also doing some final exams this spring.

Not likely. It's probably code for: "yeah, he had some fever and runny nose and Abitur exams and we are resting him a little bit before the playoffs." HIFK has had many of their top players out lately. Few injuries, but with others the reason has been fever. One of the other HIFK's "flu-patients" will be back today and he has been spotted several times this week looking healthy and doing things you don't do while sick. So he most likely could had been back earlier, but HIFK seems to want to give them some extra time to rest and be 100 % before coming back.

OT, but 1 post/year? Wow
Also, I think it's a good idea to rest Granlund before playoffs. Better not rush him so he performs well and leads the team to the finals where they can lose to Blues
