good goals by granlund. putting that aside how about that Endras save? wow lol looks like hes playing good for IFK.
Ruutu is a puss. acts like hes willing to drop gloves and doesn't even do it.
man those jokerit and IFK games seem to get heated and very fun to watch. if there was a chance to watch it with an English commentator id be so excited.
This may be way out there, but is there any chance for us to sign him for the playoff stretch? Or is that horrible idea?
If his season with HIFK is finished, I'm fairly certain he can sign with the Wild. I don't think it affects his contract status either, but it might affect waiver eligibility/UFA status.
As for when his team is done, in the FEL:
Quote:
The regular season is completed around mid-March and preliminary play-offs ensue almost immediately. The play-offs are completed by mid-April, so that all players are available for the World Championships
He could presumably be able to play if everything goes right I believe.
My goodness that first goal was pure beauty, amazing vision to pass it out to the point, get to the center of the ice and then the hand-eye to finish it off. The 2nd goal was also a great deflection. Amazing couple of goals today, both appear to be big ones too.

He probably wouldn't anyways as I think the World Championships are a little bigger deal over there than they are here. He'd probably want to play in them.

I don't think it would be a good idea, if it's even possible?
This year Granlund have had his military obligations, upper secondary school and exams. A lot of distraction. Plus last summer was pretty messed up after WC heroism. Although it seems he's taken that quite well..
Let him finish this year here, make a proper summer training and take his vitamines.. Next year he will be as ready as a man can. Well rested, more experienced, properly trained -> ready to go.
No need to hurry, it's not a piece of cake to start your NHL career straight from the playoffs.

Reason: typo
Guys, we can't forget that he started off scoring at a 2PPG pace, now he's only at a 1.29... Forget that he's already set a new career high in goals, and that he's already even with last years point total in 11 less games, he's a bust.

Only 1.29 PPG!? Dear god that's less than Harding's or Backtsrom's GAA... Let's not sign him. Wild have no use for another Shepael Granlund...
Do you really think that it's a good idea for his first experience adjusting to playing in the NHL to be in the playoffs? Not exactly a confidence builder. Plus he needs to learn the system, and it would break any chemistry the team has already shown––and any growing pains would happen in playoff games. You know, the ones where the outcome matters the most.

Way too risky IMO, both short-term and long-term.
Worked out fine for Neal Broten, I think Granlund could handle it fine.
Granlund has shown he shines best when the pressure is highest. It's a bit of risk/reward, but he's shown the ability to handle the media pressure as well as any weight from the team. It would make for a huge introduction regardless, especially if he does well.
If we really do make the playoffs i would be fine to continue with the guys that has taken us there + i think its much better if Granlund plays in the WC and puts up nice numbers again, then gets some rest and then starts some nice summer training and comes to camp all ready, and Yeo will have time to see who he should line with. No need to rush (we've done that before..)
To player SCP>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>WC. It's not even close.
For North America, yes.
It may be difficult for NA fans to understand how are the things on the other side of the big sea. Here an average hockey fan is interested in NHL so much that he checks in the morning how many points Teemu made in the latest game. It's hard to get mad (positively) of something that isn't shown TV (unless paid) and which is shown in the middle of night.
Only hardcore NHL fans really care about NHL and its playoffs. Average ice hockey fan hopes that some team with Finns win SC but even more they hope that those players drop in the playoffs, so that they can play in WHC. SC playoffs hardly get noticed in sport news. Regular season games get basically no attention at all in TV sport news.
All in all, WHC is a very big thing in Finland for audience and for players playing in Europe. Especially if WCH is played in Finland. NHL is important primarily for NHLers and for NA audience, and it's only one part of the hockey world. If the best league (and players) in the world were in Europe, I think North Americans wouldn't be interested in that league any more than Europeans are interested in NHL.
