Expecting him to be a much better player next season after some intense training during the summer. He is starting to find his game and is playing better day by day.

All the line swapping is just so damn confusing. You really can't expect the guy to light it up when he plays with different guys pretty much every night, the latest being two 4th liners.

Maybe I'm mistaken but hasn't he played better since the line shuffling and being demoted to 4th line and playing some time at wing? And didn't produce that well when he was centering the 2nd line?

He's played great on the 4th line. Winning faceoffs, and starting to realize he's got to move his feet more, can't just stop with the puck trying to make a move, etc.

Mike Yeo just doesn't know what to do with him. Have him center 2nd line, no wait, 4th line, nah, healthy scratch instead, then put him wing 3rd line, healthy scratch again, center 4th line etc etc.

Dammit Fletcher just send him down to Houston already, please. He's not bad but we have no room for him right now as long as Cullen is playing decent. I'd much rather see him playing 1st line minutes in Houston than getting 4th line minutes or scratched in the NHL.

That's not going to help his development at all.

That's 2 games in the last week, hope they don't go the Johansen route with him.

Fully agree with this as it would probably be the best thing for his development and he is a huge part of Minny's future.

Well the Wild really needs him. He is much better than what we have on our line atm.. But yeo isn't one of the better coaches.

Why not play Zucker-Granlund-Coyle as a line?

Rookie lineup isn't a good idea.

If the Wild wants some kind of a boost put Granlund on the 1st line with Koivu and Parise. Those 2 will do the dirty work in the corners while Granlund will have a little bit more space but also quality linemates. Koivu and Granlund were magic in the last WC's, when they played the occasional shift. Granlund also performs well when the challenge is expected to be more than he can handle.

Im not saying it would work in the long run but at least it could help the Wild win some games now.

That's a great news. He will get to play with Larsson.

He needed to play somewhere anyways. There's no spot for him with the Wild right now. Once Cullen is gone, he will play here so either in a month or next season IMO.

I'm not so sure anymore that Cullen will be gone next season...I'm thinking they re-sign him for another year to give Granlund some competition in training camp. If MiG wins the job, great! Cullen just moves down to the 3rd line.

Cullen wouldn't be competition if Northleast wasn't as bad as it is

He's been handled pretty bad by Yeo. Hopefully he get's it going in the AHL, comes back before the playoff's(IF Wild get's there)and get's a shot at Koivu's wing.

I think it was incredibly stupid to force him to be a center, when it was clear he wasn't ready.
They could still use him to create offence from the wing but apparently Yeo hates offence.

I'm kind of bummed about the fact that Yeo never gave him a chance to play wing.

Fact. He just wasn't good enough for NHL yet. He got his chance in his first 5 games.

Yes, 5 games is the max amount to analyze whether or not a 20 year old is good enough for the NHL yet.

Sad part is it makes no different if he dominates AHL or not. Wild won't call him up unless Koivu or Cullen injures. I think he just should start bulking up now and not after season. Off season is too short and this season is lost.

Worked out for guys like Galchenyuk and Gallagher..

You really think they would have stayed up if they sucked for those 5 games?

Bottom line is the kid was just given the 2nd line starting job to start the season, but he isn't ready for the NHL yet. The Wild tried him in other spots trying to find something that worked.

The result is that Granlund needs more time in the minors, maybe a couple years even.

All the Yeo-hate is hilarious. I never knew that HFF had so many professional hockey coaches, who clearly know so much better than Yeo & GMCF.

Unfortunately most Wild fans and Finland natives are blinded by their support of the guy to admit that he just isn't good enough at this time. Hopefully a few years down the line he can contribute in the NHL.
