Carey Price

Can Budaj take the starting role from Price? Not long-term, obviously, that being said, something tells me this is budaj's coming out party. His play reminds me of Halak's when he was with the habs. Price has been way below average, even though price enthusiast will tell you different. Can someone explain to me when he makes big saves in big moments? Let us not forget, he's in the bottom half of the league statisitically. why does this guy get a free pass now? we sit here and let guys like gill, subban, darche and gomez have it night in and night out, but price? oh no, don't dare question his game. All I'm saying, is Price needs to up his game, he's been average at best this year.

One game, your getting way ahead of yourself.

Budaj was brought here as a back up, cause he was a starter and can play a lot of games. He isn't here to compete and not take that spot away. If he shows a lot, he strengthens the tandem, or becomes a good trading piece, not a piece of the puzzle taking Price's spot.

You are sadly mistaken if you think Price has been average at best this year, we could be worse if not for Price.

Why are so many here to judge Price over a 10 plus game period, and then give the torch to player who played two games.

Sure, let's run Price out of town. That is key to the present and future success of this franchise.

That's not at all what you're saying. Not by a longshot. Budaj = backup for 10-15 games and an insurance policy. Nothing more.

I'm not a Price enthousiast and I frankly think he's been one of our best players so far.

As for Budaj, he played 2 games. What makes the difference between a starter and a backup goalie is mostly consistency. He never showed he could be consistent at the NHL level yet.

maybe, but maybe not. I don't know, I'm watching the games, besides the game against ottawa and phoenix I don't see what I saw last year. He's much better than he's been, and I bet if someone asked him, he'd admit his play is below average for himself. he's been solid for half our games, a no show in a couple and outstanding in a couple. Average.

Budaj played well in his games all the while Price's game was off. I am on record for suggesting that the habs continue to ride the hotter Budaj but I give credit to JM for benching Price for his poor play then going right back to him. Price responded by consistently playing solid in net and team is playing much better defensively and scoring since then.

Also Thank you Perry Pearn for your years of Service.

Not sure if serious.

If serious, that's ********.
If not serious, it's still ********.

Pick your poison.

Say what you want, but since Spacek returned to the lineup, Price has a 5-2 record in his last 7, with save percentage of .931 and a 1.86 GAA. Can he be better? Sure, he can. But he's still doing pretty well lately.

You're kidding. Budaj has a good game and this pops up? LOL, no. Carey Price is going to be the number one goaltender on this team for a LONG time. That's not changing.

I wish there was a huge facepalm stamp than we could put on reactionary posts.

Rediculous. Although I feel Price is grossly overrated by many, Budaj will never threaten him. Budaj can be good, but Price can be great.

Budaj will only usurp Price as the team's #1 goalie the day that Josh Jorge becomes a captain for the first time in his career.

Why not just call this thread Price vs Budaj?

And lets have it get to like part 20. It's not the same around here without a goalie controversy, right?

Price would need to average 0.344 sv% and 8.00 GAA to have Budaj take the number 1 role.

And even then the habs would probably trade for someone to start besides Budaj.

This is classic habs board stuff right here.
