Do the math.
Yes but Northeastern has 2 senior and 1 junior goalies next year. They also have no goalies committed in the future meaning Derick would be the only goalie in the sophomore or freshman classes, meaning he could start for 2-3 years. Also, although no one really knows what schools have available for scholarship money, the Northeastern rumblings seem to believe there to be scholly or two available.

And to add to that, Vermont has 2 goalies committed for next year Body Hoffman from Ft. McMurray of the BCHL and Billy Faust of Nanaimo of the BCHL, according to Heisenberg.

That said, it is important to remember this is much more a hockey decision then a scholarship decision for them. They were committed to Brown where there were no "scholarships" and if they can get into Brown and value school as much as they say, chances are they can get academic scholarships from a lesser school although still good school.

In the end it'll come down to the place where both will play, be comfortable with the staff as well as school and where Kevin will maximize his potential.

Sorry if this has already been stated...but current Northeastern assistant coach Jerry Keefe used to be an assistant at Brown, and was the guy who first recruited Kevin and his brother Derick.

So I know the Roy's are very familiar with Keefe, who is now at Northeastern.

Have I dropped enough hints?

I say with a very high degree of confidence that decommitting at this late of a date means one or both of them were having a problem being admitted. Since it was Derek who decommitted first, the math become pretty easy from there.

I would also say with a high degree of certainty that it won't matter if NU has any hockey money left. Since I am fairly sure that the Roy's were not paying much, if anything, to attend Brown and since NU's $500MM endowment is open to ALL students, that money is not an issue. Roster room may be. Some 2012 or 13 may end up getting the old Phillips Head in the Poop Chute with a ratchet...

On the other hand, I've been told by people whom I deem reliable that UVM has the scholarships. Given further information from this page here, it's a matter of whether or not they want to use their own Phillips head.

It's pick 'em where they end up. If they want the easy way finance wise, it appears that UVM has the edge. Both programs are rebuilding. NU seems to be more serious about it.

From what I've come to learn about the Roy's, their sense of "loyalty" extends no further than to their own gene pool.

I don't mean that as a negative. I would just state that the fact of Keefe knowing the Roy's does not necessarily give Keefe a distinct advantage. Nor will having ex-teammates there.

Jerry Keefe one of my favorite Omaha Lancers ever.

It'll be interesting to see what he can do on NCAA after a huge year last year.

A lot of people I've talked to over the past few days have been saying they had been hearing about NU since then as well. Have a feeling they all derived from a particular source.

Seems like after the Johnny G debacle last year no one 100% believed it or wanted to jinx it. It was like everyone from NU was walking on egg shells about it.

But good for them, Madigan is a great coach and being a long time NHL scout will surely help Kevin develop.

Kevin Roy looked very good at the Ducks prospect camp. Will be interesting to see if he can overcome his height or lack thereof.

Northeastern or Brown, I think the Ducks had a say in this decision.

Patrick opened the door for Kevin, saying that should he change his mine there's a spot open for him.

I really think Kevin believes he has a chance to crack Team Canada and Brown's schedule really wasn't all that beneficial for him to showcase enough to garner any serious consideration. Knowing that he's already on the radar, Canada brass wants to see the results in game. If he can go to Northeastern and establish himself in a higher number of games on the big stage against teams like BC and Maine then his chances improve exponentially. The Canada-Russia Challenge will be a great showcase for him starting Thursday.

By the time the Selection Camp for Canada starts on December 9th, Northeastern will have played 15 or 16 games. Brown will have played 10 against weaker competition.

Somebody notices!

Schultz the next Orr
Gardiner the other Orr
Palmieri top 6 lock
Holland top 6 hopeful
Vatanen Finland's top d-man
Wagner top 10 NCAA scoring as a rookie
Fowler top pairing D
Etem first CHL player to get 50g in 50 games since Tavares
DSP NHLer with 30-40 potential
Rakell PPG scorer with Plymouth
Gibson Arguably the OHL's top goalie
Karlsson Allsvenskan's top rookie
Welinski Rising US hockey defensive star
Friberg led WJC in goals
Lindholm so good that the Ducks staff practically begged him to stay in North America
Kerdiles One of the NCAA's top recruits
Andersen one of the top SEL goalies last year, broke Lundqvist's shutout record
Roy USHL records breaker. Top NCAA prospect

Pretty good track record since 2008. Really hope Roy ends up being a steal. It's starting to look like it.

Just a note on Roy. I watched a bit of last nights game and he did struggle physically in the D end, his size is an issue. NU has him playing at LW, I imagine to take some of the down low D end pressure off of him.

Can anyone comment on how he looked for Team Canada this summer? Did he hold his own? I also can't seem to find stats for the tournament on the hockeycanada website, although perhaps I'm not looking properly lol.
Does anyone know who he mostly played with?

He played 3rd line mostly in the summer series... which is a shame.. he is a first line kind of player. He also got some pp time with that same kind of defensive line and you could see when he got and inch he took it and had some very good flashes.

Was the worst Canadian player in that serie IMO.. Was pretty uneffective on the puck and just couldnt show his skills at all..

From what I remember, he hardly played and when he did he was awful.
Looked completely out of place and seemingly refused to shoot.

Schultz ****ed them over, they needed someone to replace him and time frame they set after cali first stanley to become contender again that's why they wanted Lindholm to stay in NA. DSP has 30-40 goal potential in my opinion.
