I wouldn't trade Myers bc I think he is going to be Norris consideration for the next 12 years, and dmen typically take longer to develop....

But....

Bobby Ryan (alittle +)
for
Myers

Ryan has more value, but I wouldn't do that trade because we have simply too many wingers. If I were to trade Myers for anything, it would be for a dman like Suter or a true #1 center like Malkin, Toews, Kopitar (we would add of course). We simply do not have to move him at all, he is having a bad start, but all Sabres fans know how dominant he can be when he is playing well.

Not that the Bruins would do it (especially to a divisional rival), but the value that Buffalo would look for would probably be something like this:

Buf:
Tyler Myers

Bos:
Tyler Seguin

Tyler for Tyler =)

Maybe Stastny for Myers? That one sort of makes sense for both teams, except Colorado would probably have to add/Buffalo might not see Stastny as a #1C

A Chara who's not physical and not sound defensively.

We already have Dougie Hamilton, who will be better than Myers. Makes no sense at all.

I said that the Bruins wouldn't do it. I was just trying to give OP a sense of the value Buffalo would seek.

Here are a couple teams that would trade for need and have the assets to trade for Myers

Myers and a 2nd for Schenn, Read and a 1st
Myers and Leino for Jeff Carter and RJ Umberger
Myers and a 2nd for Bobby Ryan
Myers for Nino and Okposo
Myers, Stafford and a 2nd for Eric Staal and Gleason
Myers for Connolly and Downie
Myers for Dubinsky and Erixon
Myers and Armia for Cole, Oshie and Schwartz

Good call on trade value. If im Buffalo I trade with Ducks or Carolina. Staal or Ryan bring immediate leadership to Buffalo which they lack right now. Roy doesnt cut it for me, sorry.

Not going to go thru them all but.... the one that made me laugh the most was Myers for Connolly and Downie.

Roy isn't our Captain.

But yes... we do need Leadership....well... a different sort of leadership that Pomminville brings.

I know hes not your captain but he seems like the only guy that has been with the team the longest along with Pominville. Dont get me wrong, i would take Buffalos team as is but to be a serious contender I think they are missing a true leader. Although Regher could be that guy.

Miller, Gaustad.... Not saying I'm in love with the leadership group, but I think this core is pretty strong, and a good group to have.

Tyler Myers for Zach Bogosian. Bogosian is a NY born kid, maybe he'll put it all together and break out.

As to a previous OTT poster;
Spezza would certainly help our offence (which doesn't really need that much help) but we wouldn't trade Myers for him given the hole it would bring and Spezza's injury troubles. Plus, people seem to think Derek Roy isn't good enough to be our number 1 centre.
Karlson wouldn't be traded for Myers as Myers is better defensively, more physical (certainly will be when older), maybe a tad worse skater and just a little worse offensively.

Not that we will be trading Tyler, and not Intra-division.

I don't agree with your assesment on our teams leadership and it's strength.
Since the depature of Drury/Briere this team has been struggling to find any true leaders in the locker room.

Cases in point,
The 2 following seasons after their depature, the team failed to make the playoffs.
The subsequent failures in both the Bruins, then the following year, the Philly playoff series. No leaders emerged there.
Then this recent incident with Lucic and Boston, this one sticks out more than any other that Buffalo lacks any true leaders on or off the ice.

I am of the opinion that when you have to go and have "closed door" or "behind closed door" team meetings about a certain way you performed in a game or situation, and you have to have them as many times as this team has had to over the course of the past 4 seasons, that you truly lack any leadership what so ever in the line up.
