Hard to bet against the Admirals at this point.

Norfolk in five.

How far apart are the 2 places? Could create an atmosphere that doesn't favor CT with a lack of a crowd.

Espcially being a Wednesday night I don't see many showing up.

an hour in light traffic. are they not allowed to play 3 games in 3 nights? the circus doesn't start until thursday... I don't really get why they didn't schedule sunday-monday-tuesday...

that crowd will be really bad-id be shocked if they draw over 1000.

I've heard a lot of people joking that Bridgeport fans might flood game 5 to turn it into not so much a home game for Norfolk, but inhospitible for the Whale since they just bounced em. That would be hilarious.

Whale played here last fall. I hate to say it but they were least impressive playoff team that visited St. john's this season. Admirals in four.

The Whale would have been better off playing the game in Springfield as it's only 30 minutes away and a much easier drive. Springfield hosted the Hartford Whalers also when the HCC roof collapsed in 1978.

I guess it's a good thing the Whale didn't take your advice tonight. Nice job Whale taking down the juggernaut this evening in OT. Im not saying they will win the series but they certainly weren't "The least impressive" playoff team tonight.

Hi guy,

Didn't mean to cause offense, But I was just evaluating them compared to the other playoff teams that visited here. I hope your guys win.

Some trivia that I thought was interesting: Steve Thomas is a player development consultant for the Tampa Bay organization, and is currently with Norfolk. His son Christian is playing for Connecticut.

Big win for the Whale last night to even the series at 2. Shame no one was there to see it. I'd love to have gone if only to see what 1,641 looks like in that building. I'm wondering if they'll even pull in a thousand down in B'Port for Game 5 tomorrow.

I wonder what made them pick B'Port over Springfield given that Springfield is much closer?

My guess is the state of CT basically said that the game had to stay in-state.

Why would the state have any say over this? The team is not owned by the state, so wouldn't the owners of the team have the right to say where their games are to be played if their home arena isn't available?

To be honest, they probably would have a better chance of drawing more people in Danbury than they would in B'port.

Arena availability - lease terms - working relationship between owners - state intervention - input from visiting team .......

Not saying any of these are THE reason. Just giving some possibilities. You'd have to ask Whale Management to get the actual answer.

Whale lose 4-0 while playing in bridgeport, Admirals take 3-2 series lead. I really don't get the "bring back the whale" people. As someone who lives outside of Hartford, its pathetic the crowds they get for the whale games. I get it's the AHL, but if you want a team back, it all starts by supporting the local team. The only game that had a big crowd was their first game as the Whale, had ~13000 people there i believe.

That crowd is always finding an excuse not to support them. Now the fact they are affiliated with the Rangers is still used as the reason to stay away. Although I'll be honest, I don't know why suddenly being rebranded The Whale made them acceptable to some. The hockey is still the same and has always been pretty good.
