WHL vs Russia Subway Super Series

Figured I could stop derailing the prospect thread and put this up. It's currently first intermission, WHL leading Russia 2-1.

Stream

Players of note:

Brett Bulmer - RW - #12 - Wild prospect
Colton Jobke - D - #27 - Wild prospect
Matt Dumba - D - #? - 2012 Draft Eligible
Griffin Reinhart - D - #? - 2012 Draft Eligible
Colton Sissons - F - #? - 2012 Draft Eligible

Edit: 3-2 after 2

Period starting. Team WHL immediately gets a man advantage. Bulmer is on this PP unit.

Jobke working the blue line on the other PP unit.

Bulmer was holding out at the side of the net, dug out a puck and put it perfectly on Dumba's stick, but it surprised Dumba so much he just kind of stood there rather than taking the open net shot.

Dumba does a good job blocking a shot, then takes a terrible penalty. Just a stupid cross check right in front of the net.

With the camera, it's hard to keep an eye on Bulmer when he doesn't have the puck, but he's just skating circles around the Russians whenever he has the puck.

Bulmer looks like he's skating at about half speed and is still buzzing right past people.

With all the tight calls in the game, Bulmer hasn't taken a penalty either.

Not sure whether to blame Dumba for that Russia goal.

Sissons has looked like a hard nosed forward. He's just willed the puck to the net a couple times.

Jobke with a nice play to make the clear after they were pinned in the zone for a long time.

Looks like Jobke's been assigned to clear the crease a bit on the PK. That's something we've been sorely lacking from our D right now.

Hot shot by Bulmer, but the goalie makes a nice save. My feed's cutting in and out now though.

I didn't get to see much of that goal as my feed totally blew up. Switched to low quality now. WHL has a 3-2 lead and is going on the PP again.

Dumba has looked strong holding the point on the PP.

Bulmer keeps making plays that just shock his teammates and they bobble his passes.

i think there was zero risk of hurting his development in the NHL.

I would have liked to see him in Houston. He looks pretty big, but I was still worried about a player with his game playing in the NHL at his size. He certainly has the awareness and physicality for it.

i have no doubt he'd have been in Houston (and called up by now) if he was eligible. Johnson's contract (and excellent performance) made keeping Bulms up here on the team a no go considering we were going to play him in the bottom six. If Johnson hadn't turned out to be as good as he is, Bulmer would have stayed.

Gallagher with a fantastic shorthanded chance.

Sissons just made that whole play. Max Reinhart with a nice shot for the shortie.

Bulmer chasing down the puck, delaying, making the stretch pass, then almost getting the tip in.

Bulmer was bumped off that puck a little too easily there. Overall he just looks so relaxed out there.

yeah, too relaxed. not like he's mailing it in, but he doesn't look like he has the "hunger" he had when at camp and in his NHL games. Understandable i guess. Still looks like he's having fun though.

He looks like he's just going half speed at all times, but he's still easily outplaying his opposition. He gets the fire when the puck's on his stick though.
