Moving to Tampere (Beer League?)

Hello,

I'm from the U.S. and will be moving to the Tampere area sometime in the spring of 2012 to live with my wife who is a native of Finland. I was wondering if anyone had information about finding a place to play hockey in Tampere. I played at pretty high levels here in the U.S. throughout the years. For the past 3 years I've been playing in the local rec. (Beer) leagues and some full-check travel leagues made up of ex-pros and college players. I'm just looking for some type of skate to help me keep my sanity while I adjust to life in Finland.

Any help would be appreciated.

Here is the startpage for Finnish Ice Hockey Association's non-professional hockey activities & organization. It's regional, and Tampere is located in the Häme region so you might wish to contact the person under number #2, he might be able to help.

Since Tampere is pretty much dubbed as the Finnish Hockey Town, another option might just be to walk into any watering hole and bring up the subject with the bartender. They're almost guaranteed to know someone who's in a local recreational ring.

Yep, that's true. Another thing they will confiscate is any kind of cheery attitude. It's for your own protection, since people will gang up and kick the living daylights out of you if you smile in public.
